Every year the premiums go up at least $100. We are now paying around $1000 a month! And this is with a "non-profit" insurance company. And still, we get push back from them for coverage of some drugs and preventative diagnostic tests. All of our "employees" are independent contractors and that's a good thing because we are having a hard enough time affording insurance for ourselves. Enough is enough! We work hard and make a decent living but we are always left out of any government relief programs, for example, the stimulus packages. We pay more than our fair share.
