If he does well and cranks out a quality product and shows his worth, then I could see how money would play a bigger role in his career. And it could be argued that Tarantino is an auteur, "hit it big" almost immediately, and has no need to get a big pay day. I don't even know why I'm sticking up for Slade, I don't think his films are that great; in fact I hate Hard Candy.
