Daily Camera.com: : Eldora facing flurry of complaints about pass programs - Boulder Daily Camera

Actually if you buy the pass now (or more accurately any time after early season pricing), it's $469. If you bought it back in August/Sept., I think it was $419 for new/$399 to renew.

Also Eldora was reporting 11" of new snow from Friday night. Hard to pass that up. One year it took me 45 minutes to get from Eldora parking lot to the roundabout during FDGD. You must be new around these parts, so 411: FDGD takes place annually during the first full weekend in March. Traffic is like that every FDGD, so plan accordingly.

As my granny always said: wish in one hand; spit in the other, and see which one fills up first. Eldora ditched the DOJoe this year, and you're really going to hold out for an uphill access program like every other reasonable ski area in Colorado has?

Screw BNSF. For $1.7bn I'm sure RTD could build their own darn tracks or, where they couldn't snatch land, a subway. There's plenty of not-built-on land on 36 and 287. Tell BNSF to go pound sand.

Most recent Colorado market share information I could find was: Kroger/King Soopers = 40% Safeway = 20% Wal Mart = 20% That's ~80% of the grocery market controlled by 3 companies.

Good. The lack of competition among the grocery-stores-for-mere-mortals has been bad for all of us. Hopefully a Wal Mart grocery will force King Soopers and Safeway to actually have some decent prices more often. I'm surprised how much Boulderites will put up with when it comes to Colorado's grocery monopoly. People who shop at Alfalfas or Whole Foods wouldn't go to Wal Mart anyways, so I'm sure these shops don't care.

Daily Camera.com: : Nederlands warn residents that Boulder Canyon could be closed for a month - Boulder Daily Camera

That's gonna make it real hard to open the schools... We just did that commute today 126 miles RT from Ned. to CU/28th & Canyon. 4.5 hours. We can't do that for a month. I know a lot of people who are in that same boat, and it gets harder the further north you go (Ward, Allenspark, Raymond, Gold Hill, etc.). There's a lot of folk up here who rely on the N bus, too. I'm really torn because there are people down below who have lost everything (and some, even more); I know several of these people from Lyons. We're taking in people who have lost their housing in Boulder. And I'm trying really hard to keep it in perspective. But a month to get a major ingress/egress open? That's a lot. I apologize for the whiny thing... ...sigh...

Has anyone heard about Boulder Canyon? I've seen a number of rockslide pictures and a friend sent a picture of a partial washout that looks like it's between 4 mile and Elephant Buttresses, but no word anywhere on the road's status. Obviously cdot is inundated, so just wondering.

I'm pretty sure this is the same "campground" as the Rainbow stabbing a couple of years back. Personally, I feel bad for these folks -- times are tough. But they are also nothing but trouble -- squatting in the NF around these parts. Stabbings notwithstanding, they leave huge piles of trash and human waste in the forests every year. It's disgusting. If they could camp with no trace, that would be one thing. But they never do. I wish the FS and Sheriff had the resources to move these folks along (mile marker 37/Gordon Gulch, east & west Magnolia, Peewink, etc.). Alas.
