The election proved pretty clearly that the supervisors are not going to issue bonds to repair Creek Delhi. The county is very fiscally conservative with less than $1million in total debt. Would it make sense to increase the county's debt 5x for 1 project? LOL. Just think how many canoes ArcheBunker up there will be able to buy when he has to sell his boat.

Dig deeper. They went to the county and state for funds to replace the gates in 2007 so they could afford their debt payments. Their own meeting minutes have been the best source of facts for this whole debacle.

Michael, the crest came in Manchester on Saturday night. The Delhi dam didn't bust until Sunday morning, and Manchester was back to flood stage by Sunday afternoon. If you're going to make up "facts", at least get some of your story straight.

It was amazing how quickly the water dropped in Manchester Sunday afternoon after the Delhi pond drained.

food for thought, I live right ON the Maquoketa, and the flood level and flows in Manchester in may or 2004 were EASILY exceeded by this event. Not even comparable. The river moved trees and topped banks that weren't even damp in 2004.

So you don't think any silt was washed in when the river hit 25' in Manchester just north of the pond? Everytime it rains the river gets silted in, the farmers plow every inch of dirt to dust, tile the fields with minimal waterways etc...
