KOMO - Seattle, WA : \'Barefoot Bandit\' pleads guilty to interstate crime spree | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breakin

6 yr is too little. The problem is it is NOT he does not know what he did was wrong. He obviously knew what he did was wrong and he was proud of doing it at the expense of the others and kept doing it. I worked hard everyday for my living so does everybody else. Why should we give such a light penalty to people to ruin others life for fun? And what if the plane / boat he stole ended up crashing into someone's house and killed someone? At that point, will we still agree 6 to 7 years of prison is the correct amount of sentence?

Try out the Issaquah Costco and the Kirkland Costco - Kirkland one is the worst. If you do a search in internet on "costco membership upgrade", you will see many people have gone through the same hassle at checkout. Costco probably have a quota/commission system going on so if the employee needs to move up, he/she needs to upsell this membership thing.. Each upsell help them to bring in extra $50.

So I don't know what is more annoying. Having someone blocking you in the shopping isle unintentionally vs having a specific person who keep bothering you like those poor kids asking for candys in the poor countries. BTW, for those who get pissed off at these aggressive upgrade tactics, you can call up the Costco head office and asked them to put a note on don't bother you on executive membership upgrade at chkout.

Yes indeed. How many items you bought in Costco you really ended up using all of them before they expired / turned bad? And you know what was the most annoying thing about shopping at Costco? It was the "Beggar" tactics that they tried to get you sign up for the executive membership. So you thought you did well because you bypass all your fellow shoppers from blocking you...then at the checkout counter, a sale person will come up to you and keep forcing you to upgrade to executive membership. "If you don't sign up, you are like throwing money away"...."Since the beginning of this year, you already spent this much..if you would have executive membership, you will be earning this extra $"... "I cannot believe you don't want this, it is guranteed. We are trying to give u money for free... You don;t want extra money to spend?"

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Gates Foundation gives $18.7M grant to study deadly worms | KOMO News - Seattle, Washington | Local

Yes and No. Bill did donate $ to our foodbank already. I think the $ is good for the next few yrs. Compare to the standards of living, I think we are quite well off compare to lots of other people in other countries. Most of the initiatives of the foundation is more on curing the cause rather than fixing it with a patch. If we can prevent this disease, the benefits goes to the whole world, the number of people we can save is going to be endless. Think of it this way, you are at a village where lots of people are staving, do you think you want to be the one who is going to fish for them and provide them the food for the rest of their life, or you want to be the one who teach them how to fish so they can look after themselves without you keep sticking around. Once the village no longer relies on you, you can walk to the next village and solve the next village's problem. The foundation is really mostly focsing on issues that once the ball is rolling, the ball can take care of itself.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : A $280 car seat for $43? It was too good to be true | KOMO News - Seattle, Washington | News

People do make mistakes and Target is being generous in giving out a $25 card for their mistakes. Tried out some other online store and some may not even refund your $ unless you started sending email to them to ask for the $ back. Among all the places I shop, I personally think Target is a very fair and affordable place to shop. Company needs to make a profit to live on. Consider it is not Target but it is your own company. Do you think it is fair for you to make a mistake (forgeting to put a extra 0 in a price , so $43 instead of the correct price of $430) and ends up coughing up close to $400 for every order that came in? Target needs to pay for the warehouse, staff, utlity bills, shipping charges all these expenses!! Honestly if Target honours every mistakes that they made, you will not get the kind of price you are gettting now from Target. Don't be greedy, they give you $25 gift card which they don't have to. When is the last time you get a $25 gift card from someone who made a mistake and had caused nothing to you besides a few minute of your internet time?

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Local car dealers struggling to stay afloat | KOMO News - Seattle, Washington | Local

I have no pity on these dealers either. What bothers me the most is even if you know the invoice price and there are big rebates behind the scene, the dealer will do whatver to make sure you pay wihtout taking these into considerations. If I want to buy a car now, I would not even bother to visit the shop. I will just go to online site and ask for a bid and starts from there. I recalled one time I talked about these discount at a dealer (rebate/invoice/volume discount etc) and the saleman was getting mad and told me "this is none of your business. Whoever sell you at this price with these considerations needed to be fired right away" When all else fails, they will start breaking down the $ into daily rate to try to sneak the $ in behind you. Very professional indeed.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : When teachers strike, bus drivers pay | KOMO News - Seattle, Washington | Local

For everyday the teacher is going on strike, we as parents are trying to find daycare at $25 to $50 per day so we get to keep our jobs. This is extra $ that we are shelling out. This $ is not something we want to spend in the current economy. Lots of people want to find a job just to feed their family but they got laid off and cannot find one. Do you know how many people are looking for work from banks and credit union? People should be happy that they did not have to take a pay cut to keep their job around. Teachers we hear your point. Please go back to work and don't put extra burden on everybody else.

I doubt it if we can get a real answer out of this one...The govt can put up whavter they want to mask up this. If they can come up with a fake passport, I am sure they can come up with fake birth certificate, fake ID, etc. From another site's news section, looks like some computer professional was able to retrieve govt web page from cache a while back so they can tell what was the bios info from these athelete before the govt site was taken down. We have lip singing, fake fireworks for those who watch it from TV, atheletes that have multiple ages profiles... I don't know when I am watching the olympics, am I trying to watch what I want to watch, or trying to watch what China wants me to watch. I personally would prefer to see what is real . Even as of now I do feel sorry for the gril who only get to sing but don't get to go to the stage. Poor gril probably now belief b/c of her look, she can only work and deliver and nothing else.

May be no plague but using laminated newspaper or website review if that is the case. I have seen lots of restaurants having laminated review articles posted on their doors. I think everyone wants to go to a good restaurant tha deserves recognitiont and not some gabbage one which has a lots of phony plaque. And for those restaurants who are willing to shell out $ to buy all these plaque, you wonder what qualiy of food they are serving you. Probably low quality food with tonnes of MSG to make up the taste. I will never eat fried food from those restaurants for sure. Who knows how long it is since their last oil change?

This is a very sad story. The teenage should be trailed as adult. Teenagers are getting more reckless and violent nowdays. The other day I was driving along and a car with 2 teenagers were driving by weaving between lanes and were giving fingers to whomever they passed..... A perfect recipe for road rage. And I bet if an accident happens, the teenagers will be given a slap on their hands and nothing else.

It is distrubing to see statement like this "First I thought it was a big fight, you know, all the kids fighting". Do kids get paid by how many people they get punch per day when they grow up? I don't know why we believe fighting and punching / bullying each other is considered as normal / acceptable. I am glad he is caught for now..... all the people who was with him and encourage him for the shooting should deserve some prison time as well.

I guess some neighbourhood is so unsafe that you never expect you neighbours'kid sell scout cookies. And you expect anyone who intend to knock on the doors are someone who want to break in your house so you need to keep a gun right behind the door. Fortunately not too many of us live in that kind of neighbourhood. What if the shock collar is out of battery / malfunction and a mother with a baby/toddler pass by that house....what is going to happen? It is the mother's fault that she should drive in a car instead? How about it is her fault since she should avoid passing by any houses that has a sign "beware of dog" hanging by the tree post of some sort with NO FENCE?
