The Fair Tax – every worker would pay the same percentage rate (a perfect model is the Holy Bible, which says we should give a tenth to the church. How about 10% across the board?) I believe the only people who should not be held to the 10% formula would be those who are 100% disabled, retired Senior Citizens over the age of 65, and the unemployed; these folks should not be required to pay taxes. And just because someone chooses to hatch a bunch of children does not mean the rest of us should foot the bill. 10% tax no matter if you are single or have eight children like Octomom did. Sorry, you have 'em - YOU support 'em!

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : Tea Parties

To continue my comments about Media Matters, I don't know about you, but I'm getting angry about getting called names. As Obama preached during his campaign: "Don't tell me words don't matter!" Well, the words directed at us are "hate speech" but I guess its ok when it's directed at hard-working everyday citizens like us! Check out what one Eric Boehlert had to say and it isn't nice...here is the link: http://mediamatters.org/columns/200904160001?f=h_...

Media Matters is definitely an anti-Tea Party site, but I go there to read the latest crap because to stick my head in the sand and ignore it would be foolish. Check out what they are saying now - they are referring to Fox as a "militia media" and we, the tea partiers, are "fringe." And Glenn Beck? They wrote, "Beck and company insist on irresponsibly fanning the militia-type flames of distrust." Really? I thought Glenn and the rest of Fox news was reporting and participating in our tea parties because a gathering of hundreds of thousands of concerned citizens across the country was front-page news. And Fox News KNEW what kind of treatment we'd get from all other media. And Fox News was 100% right! http://mediamatters.org/columns/200904160001?f=h_... More to follow....
Actress and idiot Janeane Garofolo is an ignorant waste of humanity! Garofalo actually called Tea Party-goers "a bunch of teabagging rednecks," adding "this is about hating a black man in the White House. This is racism straight up." Oh man, is she way off base. Plus she is judging 18th Century Americans with her 21st Century mind. It is wrong to do so. Our ancestors lived in a much different time. Slavery was acceptable at that time - it was the norm. ALL of the original 13 colonies had slavery, including New York - the biggest slave-holding state of all. BUT, slavery was entrenched in the colonies BEFORE we ever became a country. But the bottom line is this - we have evolved over the past 300 years. We cannot judge our ancestors, no more than those who will be alive one hundred years from now (if we can SAVE this country) judge as. While I cannot comprehend the 17th Century mindset of owning human beings, and I detest racism of any kind, I am nonetheless proud of my ancestors and my heritage - every bit of it! No shame for then and no shame for now. I am a proud Tea Partier and proud of America and its history!

Indeed, the patriots of 2009, who did nothing more than hold peaceful tea parties across America the Beautiful, will be remembered in history – not as some radical group of right wing nut jobs or homegrown insurgents – but as a country-loving congregation of heroes that ignited a fire that saved America from becoming a memory.

The sustained tension that brought about the American War for Independence began when the “shots heard around the world” were fired at Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts, on April 19, 1775. And just 86 years later, on April 12, 1861, the shots that started the War Between the States were fired at Fort Sumter, South Carolina. Ironically, it was again in April that tensions culminated with an outbreak of tea parties across America! A concerned group of citizens from various walks of life – differing ages, races, and political affiliations – came together with the unparalleled occasion of peaceful, festive gatherings in every state in the Union! On April 15, 2009, we who felt that our representatives were no long representing us – who felt oppressed, overwhelmed, and ignored – united to make our voices heard! The Tea Party of April 15, 2009 will go down in history, right alongside April 19, 1775 and April 13, 1861!

I am a historian who has researched my ancestors; and in the process I became fascinated with history relating to two specific times in American history: The War for Independence & the War Between the States. Last night as I lay thinking in bed before going to sleep, I realized that in many respects, the political and social atmosphere we are experiencing right now is eerily similar to what I believe was the atmosphere at the time right before the Revolutionaries made their stand against King George, as well as to the atmosphere in the South when it determined to secede from a Union it could no longer tolerate. Both times, there was a major rift between opposing ways of living and thinking. Both times, differing ideas as to how to live in this country created volatile rifts that turned brother against brother, father against son, and neighbor against neighbor. I had ancestors on both sides of both wars. Many of you did too, whether you know it or not. What is sad is here we are – one-and-a-half centuries after the Civil War –with an atmosphere of unease.

Wolf - I agree. We must stand behind our friend, Israel. It is a shame that many of our leaders don't share that sentiment (they are too busy sucking up to the leaders of countries that despise us). Isn't it a blessing to know that as We the People pray, our Heavenly Father hears us - the people - and interecedes in a way our corrupt gov't will not.

Ti VietnamVet69_70, Nancy Pelosi is a very scary woman. She is the Wicked Witch of the West and East! And that witch is flying around this country on a very expensive military plane way too often, flying back and forth from D.C. to California! She's taking advantage of us - acts like she is entitled! What's wrong with first class on a commercial flight for goodness sake? She should be ashamed of herself for spending that kind of money on taxpayer money!

In addition to higher taxes on Indian gaming and cigarettes, there would be $200 million in fee increases on everything from fishing shore-line licenses to motor vehicle tags; $250 million in sales-tax exemption eliminations; $200 million in increased beer-distributor taxes; $64 million from raising college tuition. Included is a constitutional amendment that would raise the sales tax a penny. The House version of the proposed Florida budget reportedly does not support the above. So, we need to get busy! Let's start our newly founded Tea Party off to a good start, Floridians. Contact your House representatives and tell them to vote NO for the Senate version. Below is a link to the list of Florida State House representatives. Find your representative on the list and contact him or her via phone, email, or written correspondence immediately and make your voice heard! Here are the links: http://www.miamiherald.com/news/florida/story/968... http://www.myfloridahouse.gov/Sections/Representa...

You know what? We now have THREE parties in this country: the Republican Party, the Democrat Party and the Tea Party! And I can tell our Tea Party is going to be made up of some scrappers. SO LISTEN UP FLORIDIANS! Our state government is getting ready to put together their budget for next year. And unfortunately our Florida Senate (who obviously is not listening to us!) is supportive of "increasing revenue." And of course, how they will get that "increased revenue?" You got it - through increased taxes and higher fees and surcharges! Some argue, well it will help education and other state workers and agencies. Yes, but at what the cost? More financial burdens for Floridians! And I say NO! We are already burdened enough!

At the tea party in Jacksonville, Florida, there were only handful out of thousands, although one of the main presenters was a very fired up black man! I believe amongst our ranks are probably a majority of white people, but there are people of all colors, ages, and national origin. The main thing we are is this: loyal Americans who want a voice, who want to the heard. I was thinking today that the best thing the leaders of this country could do at this time is to at least ACKNOWLEDGE OUR PRESENCE! Is that too much to much to ask? Hey leaders! Act like we matter!

bikerchic, I can tell you are as perturbed as I am! And I appreciate your well-thought out comments. Did you see Glenn Beck today at 5:00? He showed an exerpt from a CNN reporter who pretty much got up in the face of a man holding a baby and purposely attempted to provoke the man! All he was doing was TRYING to respond to the bimbo's question, and she got into his personal space (you know that space we lose comfort with a person invading) and repeatedly yelled "What has that got to do with taxes?" Then when the other protesters told her to shut up and let the man talk, she turned to the camera with her smirky smart-ass tone dismissing the crowd SHE provoked. What a you-know-what!

I was tuning in to the Jerry Doyle show the other night, and he said that the great energy coming together in the form of Tea Parties CANNOT end with the Tea Parties. His questions were, "What next? How do we keep it going?" He believes we need an organization to associate with - something like a Move On. He's right! And because we are all now 912-ers,we cannot get fired up about the Tea Parties and then let it fizzle out. That is what the opposition is hoping for. And we have news for them!! We 912-ers are NOT going away. Let's ponder on this. How do the liberal progressive socialists further their cause(s)? They organize! And if you read the book, Rules for Radicals - the far left training manual that Barack Obama and other community organizers studied - it would give an insight into their mindsets. As any law enforcement officer can tell you, in order to be a good cop, they had to learn to undersand the criminal mind and figure out what makes the criminal tick. We need to do likewise. Only TWO MORE DAYS till we make the statement. "Hello boys and girls, you've pissed off the populace and we're putting you in your place!"
