This had Senator Barack Obama as the chief sponsor, so it has big backing. It was one of the Senator’s last efforts in his Senate office, and Joe Biden is a co-sponsor. The Bill promises 0.7% of the US GNP (~$845 billion commitment) "over and above what the U.S. already spends” as "official development assistance." Per Cliff Kincaid at Accuracy in Media, the Bill promises to adhere to “U.N. protocols [that] would make U.S. law on issues ranging from the 2nd Amendment to energy usage and parental rights all subservient to United Nations whims”.
