The jobs are Obamaesque "economic stimulus" because once that forest is done, they'll need to find another one, and another one and another one... It's a convenient way to never have to fix the education system. I got to sit in a privately-owned B-25 bomber belonging to a log trucking company owner in Salem back in the '90s, when "times were tough for the logging industry." Have you ever met a truck driver who can afford a multi-million dollar World War II bomber when "times are tough"? TREESITTERS and PROTESTORS: It doesn't work this way. You're not going to annoy people into listening to you; you'll lose far more battles than you'll win. I know who Julia Butterfly is, but, none of these people do and who knows if that tree is still there?

"Forestry management - sort of like" 98% of the 1,500-year-old America redwoods--the tallest organisms in the world--cut down in about 50 years for "progress." THAT sort of forestry management?

"Then again I dont see any of these people keeping a job" So let me ask you this, since you're obviously so informed: When you say you "don't see any of these people" does that mean you actually checked, or is that something Lars Larson does for you?

Government help? You mean like giving public land to private companies and then taxing me for cutting trees on my own land? I pay several hundred dollars a month to put my kid through private school--AND pay property taxes-- only to hear some intellectually-conflicted rednecks blathering about who gets "government help." If your kid goes to public school, don't talk to me about "government help" because people like me subsidize your kids'' educations without getting anything out of it.

I served in the Marine Corps, and if I saw any of your little redneck buddies assaulting these Americans you'd be laid out on the ground at the point of a .45 until the police arrived to serve proper American justice. Now stop stroking your angry little thingie and go burn a flag.

No, not really. The native species of Oregonus Treehuggerus is actually radically more politically independent than its allies in other states. It has nothing to do with "sides." 2% of the ancient American redwood and sequoia remain. 2%, after only a few decades of logging, 98% of it is gone. It only takes a thousand years or so for a forest to become "ancient." Here's the catch: What remains of the California redwoods was not saved by sit-ins or protestors. It was saved by the Rockefellers, Lady Bird Johnson...

KATU - Portland, OR : Biden, in leaked memo, told Obama war plan flawed | National & World News | KATU.com - Portland News

Seems to be what he's doing. What's kind of funny is that it wasn't the party of "Obongo" (what is this, 7th Grade at Rockwood Middle again?) that got us into the war in Iraq or Afghanistan in the first place. The problem is, as such, I can't take you seriously. The Obama critics WANTED to send troops to war in Afghanistan and Iraq and the right wing establishment called anybody who opposed it liberal, pacifist, communist, coward or America-hater. Can't have it both ways but if the right wing keeps blowing its own toes off like this, Obama's reelection will be an unfortunate inevitability.

Was there a specific point in the memo you'd like to point out or is this one of the n-number of knee-jerk political criticisms that appear anytime a Republican or Democrat is named in print?

A lot of people vote based on what they're told somebody says, without ever actually listening to the actual individual himself. I found this to be the case with Ron Paul. Although I don't believe his foreign policy ideas, I found that what I actually listened to -him- speak, he was not only smarter than most of his critics, what he said had little resemblance to what his critics -said- he said. And, odds are, you've never actually listened to Biden so other than what the right wing and the media program you to think, you don't "know" what he said at all. Because whether you like him or not he didn't get to be the Vice President of the greatest nation in the history of the world by profanity alone. Ergo, the disconnect between what he actually says and what you thought he says is a product of your information sources or your imagination, and not reality. I would, for example, really, really, REALLY like to know what Christ said as opposed to what some "disciple" who never actually met him anymore than I did TELLS me he said.

KATU - Portland, OR : Search and rescue team finds hikers in Columbia River Gorge | Local & Regional | KATU.com - Portland

I believe you're stating the obvious here, but, yeah. The trails are clearly marked. Should note though that I suspect a lot of people run into trouble because they're expecting their hiker GPS or cell phone to help them out. On most if not all of those trails the terrain is too steep to pick up reliable GPS so if a hiker thinks that they're prepared because they've got the NatGeo maps loaded up in their Magellan, they could end up screwed if the GPS loses reception along the way.

A relative who is a Marine combat vet said that the problem with letting the Air Force fight the war is that they'll launch a cruise missile into a neighborhood to kill a bad guy, wipe out an entire family tree of innocent civilians... And then it's up to the army or the Marines to go in and interface with the community only to find out that they missed the target completely. It's actually easier to knock on a door and ask for information if you haven't also just blown up half the village.

The problem is th tight pants and crap that people don't wear outside of Panorama. Not that they shouldn't wear those clothes but my wife likes to go out dancing but that doesn't mean she wears those clothes at other occasions. I worked for a very gay boss who reviewed the parade for me after riding on a float behind some topless lesbians one year. He said there are obviously women whose knees never get cold.

Tell it to my friend Danielle, a former Marine, who had the first same-sex wedding at Evergreen Air Museum. Hate to break it to you but they've been married for about four years now. Her daughter just graduated from high school and her partner, also a veteran, earned her engineering degree and is going back in as an officer.

One of my good friends is a Marine veteran who "came out" after she served and has two awesome children, one of whom is a successful (and hetero) young adult Her life is worth more to America and the Marine Corps than any gay-basher on here who didn't serve.
