A "home invasion" at 8:30 p.m. sounds a little suspect to me. I hate to assume it, but those involved may know each other...perhaps not in a good way. Is this another drug deal gone wrong rather than a "home invasion gone wrong?"

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Community rallies to save police dog\'s job | KOMO News - Seattle, Washington | Local

Honestly? Everything about this dog is already a sunk cost. He already knows to chase down the criminals running away from him. I'll give him Kibbles and Bits for a year...I can't imagine that costing more than a couple hundred bucks! If the costs that AgentSTS states are true, then I have a keen little Shitzu (sorry, but apparently Komo edits the spelling of this breed of dog automatically, but I'm sure you've figured out what type of dog I have) that I would like to put on the payroll in Grays Harbor. She may not give you a deathly bite, but she will lick you so playfully that the criminal can't help but to stop running and give her a cuddle!...and then the cops can cuff them.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : The cost of state school reform: $3.4 billion | KOMO News - Seattle, Washington | Local

I've turned out just fine after I spent 12 years in a poorly funded Catholic school, but was educated by dedicated and caring teachers whose only focus was to teach us the necessary skills and such to succeed...and those teachers received far less in salary than these public school teachers. Throwing more money into this joke of a public school system does NOTHING, except flush more tax dollars down the drain...which seems to be the goal of our governor. If you want to improve the system, then hire and manage teachers that are willing to TEACH our children. What I've noticed is that these teachers only teach things that show up on the WASL...guess what, in my day to day life and in my business, I don't run into any WASL comparable questions or issues! These additional funds literally could just be flushed down a toilet and have the same results, because our public officials are incapable and too incompetent to use them wisely.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Get there from here - on 1 card | KOMO News - Seattle, Washington | Local

I would imagine that this works no differently than the Good To Go passes for the Tacoma Narrows Bridge (basically debiting an account that you have tied to a credit card or such). It is super efficient and easy. I've experienced no problems with that system, so I hope that this system is as efficient and effective. Now if only the revenues from the Good To Go passes stop funding other regions and that the "projects" using these funds are in areas of those that are funding it.

In your little Cut and Paste stats there, it clearly states that it is "half of the world's MILITARY expenditures." NOT half of our GDP. There is a HUGE difference. The bigger point here is that this teacher found a far cheaper way to fund his classroom than the government is able to do. Obviously, it is sick that he needed to get sponsorships for his classroom supplies...but what the heck are these school districts spending their money on...I'm sure when they organize it they couldn't have gotten nearly two years worth of paper for one teacher for less than $315. Way to go Teacher!!!

KOMO - Seattle, WA : To execute or not: A question of cost? | KOMO News - Seattle, Washington | News

Those 2/3s of people probably commited the crime in which they are on death row for. Who cares what race or ethnicity they are...if they did the crime, then finish them off! Trust me, the cost for keeping someone on death row is NOT greater than life in prison. Speed up the process and execute them. I'm always impressed that the people defending these criminals have spelling and grammar errors throughout their postings. A note to all future deathrow inmates, please commit your crime on these people and then they will finally change their viewpoints and realize that you are worthless pieces of trash and should be put to death promptly.

Well said BobbyLama...you took the words right out of my mouth. I'm sure a lot of people will bring up the fact of those that run into unexpected health/medical issues...but those are just a portion of the mess. Most of these debt collectors are tracking down debts from people that shouldn't have bought what they did in the first place because they can't afford it. Oh great, here comes another group to bail out!

How is it possible that there are negative points to those questioning Katie on the possibility of seeing a dead baby "driving by?" Yet, Katie has positive points for her statement? If you are driving by, you wouldn't see anything...I drive a lot and I don't look inside garbage cans as I drive. Nothing in the story said the woman was "driving." She obviously saw it, (probably walking by) and if you see something like this, you probably would take a second look. Unbelieveable!

My comment was only in response to other people posting with issues about someone having "everything" and why do they need "more." No disrespect...in fact by my other comments I stated that this is purely an article about a great coach...yet, people hate seeing successful people receive more "stuff." As long as everyone lives within their personal means, then all stays good.

If Holmgren and the Seahawks are so terrible, then why are you even commenting on it? Go ahead and find an article that is non-Seahawk related and enjoy, rather than trying to hate on this one. Let's see your work career Rich52, and put it under the microscope like Holmgren's has...I'm sure you haven't lived up to the highest of potentials either. In fact, what you have to remember is that a professional sports team is a BUSINESS...did Holmgren aide in selling the "product"...no doubt he did! We all do the best that we can and hope that we succeed. There is no argument that Holmgren did great things for this program, and in turn this city...hence, they have sold-out every seat of every game for the past few seasons.

He has been the winniest coach in Seahawks history...granted he didn't have much competition, but he turned this program around. If they had given him the boot four years ago, we wouldn't have gone to the SuperBowl. Making the playoffs in 6 of 10 seasons is astounding and impressive for any coach in any sport.

I am amazed that folks find any opportunity to to take jabs at anyone that finds a career that makes money. This is an article about an amazing coach that brought so much joy and excitement to a city around our football team. My family and I have loved watching the Seahawks under Coach Holmgren's leadership and he is more than deserving of such a thoughtful and personal gift. By the way, many of these "players making wayyyyy too much money" have given more to charitable causes than any of you posting on here. In fact, the Holmgren family are one of the most consistent charitable donors in the Northwest. For goodness sakes, his wife and daughter were away in Africa helping families while Coach Holmgren took the team to the Super Bowl in 2005. THANK YOU Coach for 10 great years!

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Family fears they'll lose 'Extreme Makeover' home | KOMO News - Seattle, Washington | Entertainment

Montanastyle, you're right, most of us on here haven't even had to walk an inch in their shoes. But this brings up the point that you can't just GIVE someone a "gift" like this. The show needs to also provide "training" to these families...especially in the realm of financial aptitude. Obviously, the show does all of these over-the-top things to these homes because that's what gets us to watch it. If they were to just build a "Habitat-For-Humanity" home, then I guarantee it wouldn't last more than one episode on primetime. Since foreclosure is a recurring theme on this show, and they want to honestly continue producing it, they need to add the training for the family...not just hand them the keys and take off for them to fend for themselves with this huge new financial obligation.

The new home didn't increase their mortgage payment, they chose to refinance after the fact, most likely to pull cash out. Obviously, some of that cash-out was used to pay for the medical/therapy bills, but for a change in mortgage payment that significant, they must have pulled out an potentially excessive amount. This has happened to a number of these Extreme Makeover homes...and in a couple of the cases it was due to greed and poor financial knowledge. A few of the families even received the mortgages comletely paid off by the builders and other donors, but decided to pull cash-out to do a business venture or such and it failed. In fact, I went through an open house today for an Extreme Makeover house in a neighboring city to me, and they are losing their home because the couple is getting divorced.

I do not feel sorry for this casino at all. First off, they make their money because the odds are against the "customer." Simple math tells us who will win in the end. I would love to go to this casino and lose $100 a week for 4 weeks and then try to negotiate with them like they want to with these customers...I'm pretty sure they would laugh right in my face and have no problem taking my money.
