Big Government : Inflation Threatens Economic Recovery

But consider this: Obama's budget was ~3 Trillion, and had ~1 Trillion Deficit. We can assume that theres ~2 Trillion in existing tax revenue. Assuming that, it would take 7 years to pay off the national debt if the Government spent NOTHING on anything else. Assuming zero deficit, it would likely take several times as long. Alternately, with the 1:1 Debt to GDP ratio, it would take the Entire Productive Economy 1 year to put all money towards the Debt, to pay it off. Lastly, The Government prints money to pay it off, and then contracts once the debt is gone. Or, as always, the Gov't can default. None of those options are very nice. I would argue that, of those options, (the first two are more theoretical anyway, not actually achievable), the Inflation is the least burdensome. It pisses me off as well, because I'm a college student (luckily, without student loans), and i've saved up a healthy sum, and for a brief period it will be worthless. However, given the right leadership, and careful contraction after the inflationary period, Money would resume its usual value and be healthier than before--granted severe legal and regulatory reform takes place. So, no matter what, the actual recovery from this economic crisis is going to be hard. People won't starve--at least, fiscally conservative people who spent the intervening years creating a buffer in case of these scenarios will not starve. But it will be hard, and it will hurt the world on a global scale. but in the end, I would be willing to pinch my pennies and forgo a large meal every day if it meant my future dollars would be more productive and the US would be debt-free. Contrast this with Default, in which 14 Trillion instantly vanishes from the global Accounts Receivable, no one wants to take US debt, and suddenly the US Dollar is worthless and i would argue unusable. The ONLY OTHER way that I have mentioned is the ZERO DEFICIT SPENDING. but i don't believe republicans OR Democrats have the guts to put medicare, medicaid, social security, military spending, and all the other parts of our budget on the financial guillotine. So my recommendation (pretending at least that i'm qualified to give a recommendation) is to find a way to transfer your assets 10 years into the future assuming an economic collapse between now and then.

Big Government : Inflation Threatens Economic Recovery

WHAT recovery? The Market is all a lie, the Government basically legalized fraud back in 2008 by way of SEC manipulations. The Debt to GDP ratio is 1:1, the credit stats are bolstered by college loans (which is also fraudulent), so i ask: WHERE IS THE RECOVERY? The only way to recover the economy, in my opinion, is to erase the national debt. that'd take decades if the government stopped operating on a deficit, almost a decade if it spent zero dollars on anything, ever. That leaves inflating the debt away (which sounds bad, and it would hurt the world a lot, but we could do it and save the Greenback at the same time), or Defaulting (which is just as bad as it sounds, and we would likely have to abandon the greenback). So i'm wondering what exactly the problem is with inflation. yeah, it doesn't help the economy look any better, but when the economy is built on fraud i welcome inflation--it will kill off the parasites in our economy and maybe we'll be able to get back to fixing things sooner.

The problem is the Welfare State Hard work, the poor learns to hate they hold out their palm and break out in song "Its been hours since last we ate!" If the gov't would cut back its welfare programs, more people would be induced to hard work. but right now being poor is EASY. if THAT changes, then we'll probably get MORE progress.
