/Film : Robert Rodriguez's Shorts Movie Trailer #2

I would say this too, but after seeing the preview of it with all of my nieces and nephews (6 of them) I realized that we're probably wrong. Every one of them got all excited and said they wanted to see it, which they didn't do for the preview of that Guinea Pig movie. It seems like many people are saying "IF I were the target audience I wouldn't be interested," well... you don't know because you are NOT the target audience, and from anecdotal evidence the 4-11 years olds are excited.

/Film : Mark Millar Pushing Through Kick-Ass 2 And More

As a huge fan of Kick-Ass who is sad about delays, I still really support and appreciate what he is doing. Instead of half-assing these comic book adaptations, he is planning ahead and really being involved in the process. Because of this, we will get a better adaptation and hopefully sequel, so I'm OK with waiting for new issues of KA.

/Film : A Card Trick From The Brothers Bloom

Can't wait to see this. Brick was one of the most interesting movies of the last 10 years, and if Bloom is filled with little scenes like the one above I think I'll enjoy it very much.

The only "references" to "hip" things are TV shows. The MySpace section of the comic is an essential plot device, making the super-hero aspect seem more real-world. As far as I remember, the only reference I remember was the TV show Heroes, and the kid says he used to be like season 1, but is now shitty like season 2.

Not sure what you are talking about... Issue 6 is coming out today in fact. First issue came out April 2008, 6th April 2009. Not to mention Millar reported it as being possibly 8 issues long, but that is in flux with how popular it has become. Sure, its taking a while to roll out, but your facts were wrong on pretty much every point.

That IS half a head lying on the floor, and it gets much more badass than that. If you read it, just wait until you hear the first line of dialog from Hit Girl.... its classic. And from what I hear it should be R... if they're keeping true to the original comic theres no way it couldn't be R.

"Paul Greengrass and Christopher Rouse go down in history for finding a way to assemble a record-breaking variety of coverage in a way that is comprehensible to the audience. I would explain how it works, but it’s mighty geeky and a little bit technical." I'm geeky and technical, and if you have the time I'd really like for you to explain how it works.

/Film : Movie Trailer: The Hurt Locker

Saw this at SXSW, and watching this trailer I saw many of my favorite parts. Most of the great visual moments in that movie will be "spoiled" for people who saw this trailer. I think I enjoyed it more by being surprised (ex: the last shot, pulling up those 5 bombs at once, was an "oh shit" moment because you didn't expect it). Maybe since I've already seen it I'm more able to connect all the scenes together; hopefully, audience members will still be as tense during scenes like that and the car as I was.

/Film : Who Changed the Subtitles For The Let The Right One In DVD Release?

This actually makes me really angry as I'm a huge fan of the movie. I can't see this being the actual DVD release though... as really there is no benefit to it. Dumbing it down subtitle-wise would still not make the haunting and graphic imagery any less dark, so I can't see how making the words more light hearted and not changing the actual film would benefit them in any way.

The only thing that people in my theater laughed at was the corny music playing during the very serious (and fairly graphic) sex scene. I thought that music choice was pretty off, even though I understand why they did it.

It also matters because this could influence the future of mature, dense comic-book (or superhero) movies. Sure, we have Dark Knight, but that will be nothing compared to the violence and mature subject matter in Watchmen. You can look at the release of the Watchmen series when it was first published, and how it changed the world of comic books from that point on. (Not saying the movie will have anywhere near the same effect... but it could have some)
