@ draculastongue - Thats hardly a fair representation of the Irish to be fair man. If anything its indicative of a certain type of demographic common across all football matches. You dont see this happening when we play rugby or cricket or pretty much any other sport infact!

http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/ : Belfast flag violence: Lack of leadership is simply a disgrace - Editors Viewpoint, Opinion - Belfas

" As far as I can see the aims where to remove British culture from Northern Ireland which they have done. " I'd like to know what planet you live on if you really think that is there case. The problem here is people are unwilling to compromise. Its not like the tricolour is flying over stormont. In fact if anything Northern Ireland is now more in step with the UK than ever before. They fact remains these " loyalists " didnt get their way and now the rattle is out of the pram. Here is a little something you all should consider....also written by a young fella of the Unionist tradition one of my mates sent on..... I'd perhaps see a point if it wasn't for these 6 other points that show them to be in fact completely in the wrong. About everything: 1. A meeting took place in advance where the public were given the option to discuss what happened with the flag motion. 3 people turned up, which is surprising given the supposed strength of the issue. 2. This prolonged affair has affected trade & commerce in the city during a very lucrative period & undoubtedly the opinion of overseas investors, which is really no use to anybody during a recession. The rioters, due to their 'day off' to riot are mostly and ironically on the dole. 3. The flag decision was democratically made, by the democratically elected. Making a change during democracy requires you to actually vote, so if you didn't or are angry due to the outcome of being outvoted, then you clearly have no belief in democracy unless it goes your way. In which case; that's not democracy. 4. NO SURRENDER is the echo of an era we put behind us following the power sharing Good Friday Agreement. That means we share power. Ulster isn't owned by one tribe or the other. It's Sovereign territory, yes. But with an agreement for shared power. That's 'shared power' for the slow wits out there. 5. The flag doesn't fly in any government building 365 days a year. Not a one. So why is the City Hall an exception? 6. This bitter, ill conceived, reactionary shit by a bull mob minority is ruining Christmas for everyone & putting backs up too far to compromise. So in summary; the on benefits rioters have effectively cost the working classes a bomb in tax money for a cause they could have had a say in had they just showed up for the meeting, which was later voted on by representatives that they elected and/or failed to, over a flag that doesn't fly anywhere else over a full year period.

right I would like to point out a couple of things before you read my post: A. Was brought up a catholic in the south. B. I'm an atheist so religion has no bearing on me Ok while I can see the logic in your argument can I put it to you another way.. Irrespective if there were people worshiping inside the chapel or not I think the issue most people have with this is that the actions by this band are nothing more than an attempt to draw a reaction ( one can argue that in order for this tactic to succeed somebody has to choose to react ) Firstly a defiance of the parades commission in such a high profile manner is a pretty strong line drawn in the sand ( or at least has the ability to be interpreted as such) and we know that these grand rhetorical statements can escalate quickly. Secondly, unlike the situation in Dungiven, there appears to be genuinely open cross community dialog which is working for them. There is no comparing the 2 situations
