This is not about Parties. The Republicans and Democratics have both let us down. Why do you speak as if the Democrats are the "life-givers?" There is no true Republican nor true Democrat. There are people who mostly agree with one party or the other, but do not totally understand (or care to understand) that it is all politics, and none of them are in it for us, the people.

You are well spoken, but have a lot to learn about reality.

I have great respect for Glenn Beck, but did he really say he thought the victims of 9/11 were "whining" when he spoke in 2005? Was it taken out of context? Please help me on this. I cannot believe Glenn could be so unfeeling. Is there more to the story?

Your account is accurate, and shows what love of country, desire for freedom, and resistance to tyranny can accomplish. Our forefathers were not accomplished military men, but defeated what was then, the greatest army on earth.

I make a point of never retrieving reliable information from Wikipedia. Information can be added, deleted, or changed by anyone. I was chastised by an instructor when I first entered college for using Wikipedia as references...not allowed. Find a reliable resource. :-)

We do face tyranny, and, yes, we have been fighting it quietly for generations. The socialists and marxists have been around since the 1900's. Have you read Aynn Rand's "The Fountainhead?" Recommended reading for anyone who loves the U.S. and the constitution.

Well said, edj75. Conservatism is "a political or theological orientation advocating the preservation of the best in society and opposing radical changes." The best in society...who can argue with that? Neither side; only there are so many opinions about what is best for society. Those of us who have seen the degradation of family values, child discipline, parental rights, individual rights, and freedom of speech over the many years know what is best for society. The path we are on now is not "best."

I agree. They talk a good game (like most politicians or liberals), but any person with common sense can see what they are doing...trying to recruit. Cute, but not very imaginative.

There we go with the "knowledge and intelligence" (which news_across spelled incorrectly...what a surprise!) that the "Intelligent Elite" like to flaunt, as if they are so much "smarter" than anyone else. Get a clue; just because you believe you are "progressive" and a "thinker" does not mean you have common sense, values, courage, personable responsibility, and definitely not humility.

Please put forth some logical ideas and workable solutions to our Nation's economic, social, and defense problems. I haven't seen any yet from you.

Both parties are corrupt for the most part. There are some honest politicians, but it is difficult to judge who is actually working for the people. I have no party affiliation. Neither side offers sound solutions to difficult problems, but are driven by the need to be re-elected.

You love a Party? How can this be true? No Party stands up for the true values of America and the Constitution.

Yes, what a spin. Some of the guns may be purchased in the U.S. then transferred to Mexico, but as I understand it, most of the American weapons that end up in Mexican drug cartell's hands are stolen or from the corrupt Mexican law enforcement that the U.S. has sent to Mexican law enforcement to defend itself.
