I completely agree with you about Terrible, No Good Day. Sometimes I think publishers should just stop publishing anything except picture books.

I have absolutely no problem bailing on a book. It may be my age (I'm 54 and time grows short). I've been known to bail on a book after a single paragraph.

I think many of us owe our love of reading to our moms. My mom was a big influence on me. Good thing I didn't take after my dad. He never reads fiction; he loathes it. ;-<

My mom reads voraciously, too, but, also like your mom, only read for pleasure. She loved to help me find good books when I was young.
