I have an announcement to make. The sad people on this list who argue against humane treatment for animals are only pushing their anti-animal-welfare agenda, in an attempt to protect their pocketbooks. They think that allowing people to help animals is somehow a "slippery slope" that will end up costing them money through restrictions on breeding. It really makes no sense. Treating animals humanely will not affect the greedy people who are fighting to keep suffocating them to death in gas chambers- all because they think it will lead to a law to limit their breeding.

If the county thinks gassing animals to death is humane, then why are they so upset that people want to go and watch? Very interesting.

Magnus:

Sodium Pentathol is "Truth Serum". So you're opposed to this for shelter animals or personnel?

And ah, CO2 is not the type of gas used. It is CO, carbon monoxide. Get your facts straight, man.

First of all, the NCVMA is taking a neutral position on this bill, so it would not be appropriate for county officials to say otherwise. The bills are NOT dead in committee.

How can the Rowan County HEALTH Board oppose a bill that would protect the county employees from being exposed to Carbon Monoxide? With proper training, most of the animal shelters in our state are able to deal with feral animals just fine. Go ahead and make fools of yourselves, and let your employees be overcome by the odorless, poisonous gas.
