The people within a "church" building are shrinking and he says it is doing so because people are looking for authenticity (they are leaving to become more committed followers of Jesus). It would seem that how we are doing church is causing people to leave. But if we are stepping away from an Acts 2 kind of church (teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, prayer and sharing) then those "churches" probably would be better off closing. I think the church building is shrinking but not the church, the ecclesia. People, I think, are attracted to those who are living authentically for Christ. If the church is shrinking it is because there are not enough of us living authentically.
