Eugenia27, You have good guesses and good questions. I think it would be reasonable to keep the home. I think you get some cash to help with the taxes. As for the furniture, I don't know the answer. It will be a good problem to have...there is always Craig's List :). You have as good of chance of winning as anyone else. Good Luck. -David

HGTV Dreams Happen: Sweepstakes Blog : Build It: HGTV Dream Home 2013 Daybed

I told you I have fun working on these projects! I thought it would be interesting to video a unique way of painting. I set my camera on a ladder and pushed record ran around front and painted. Later that day at dinner with Mary and Eric Perry (the photographer who took all these fantastic photos of the house) I showed the video on my phone. They laughed and they said they had to have it for the blog. If I fell you would probably be watching it on America's Funniest Videos! It is funny. Glad you enjoyed it, now go make a day bed for yourself.-David Lessie-You are hilarious David! Instead of making a day bed for myself, I'm waiting to win the home so I can enjoy YOUR day beds!!! Eugenis27-Ditto

Yes. Doable. It would take a little work but not too bad of job. I'm 2 hours down the road so I can come up and remove them if it becomes your home. :) A little wall patch and paint and a new piece of trim in the back and you have an office.

Great question! No I did not make these lights. I made the shelf. I made the boxes the lamps are sitting on....the trick, the electrician put the outlets under the boxes, the cord runs behind and under the box. This is a Linda idea.....brilliant!

No Pac Man. Much more rudimentary than that. B&W. Maybe 1973 or 74. The name of the game has something to do with instruments used in this table game.

Thanks for reminding me. There is more than one table. I made NEITHER. I did hang the curtains. Yes, lot of curtains covering NO windows. When you see the beds, be sure to look up; this is a Linda touch.Oh the first table has something to do the the very first electronic TV game I ever played. Probably came out in 1975. It was the first one invented? This was probably the last TV game I played. Listen to how dedicated Mary is...she is emailing me today to get final details. What a lady!

Now everyone know where the suspended beds are located. The Play room on the lower level. The room has great seating, a bed swing or two. What's a play room with out other play items. I shouldn't say, so I will "Table" this issue for now.

The table I am working on was a repair I was making. It was not for any HGTV project. Much of the work I do outside HGTV are repairs. I have a client that purchases many antiques from Europe. I do some extensive repairs on the "relics" she bring back. Some of the items date back to the 1700's. When I do repairs it gives me ideas on how to and how not to build my current pieces. I never know day t ot what I will be working on. Every day is different. Thanks for asking.

HGTV Dreams Happen: Sweepstakes Blog : Take a Deep, Luxurious Dive

Lessie...Love the name! Thanks for the nice things you say. I'm glad Linda "discovered"me too. She is fabulous to work with. The bed idea was Linda's. I'm sure you have seen them before. I have made many, but this one is very simple. Basically a twin platform suspended by 4 lengths of chain. Linda wanted to make it simple so when I do the DIY project it would be easier for everyone. Also the simpleness lent itself to the area.

Thanks. I did so some photography for the DH11-Stowe VT. They were the photos of birch bark, pine cones and something else. I know some of them were in the down stairs bunkroom bathroom. Speaking of birch bark, I made the large mirror in the master bathroom...it had squares of birch bark around the outside edge. The photos in the new DH13-Kiawah are Black and White. Seems to me the frames are about 28x34 with an 18x24 photo.

Eugenia27, (54) you are younger than me. The only thing I did in the media room were the B&W photos. Linda sent me out on assignment in to the New Mexico desert to photograph some rock formations. I brought back the images and Linda picked the ones she liked. We had them framed locally in Albuquerque. There were other photographs I did through out that home. I think they were also in the office. In the Dream Home in Kiawah there will be some of my photography too. It will be in the same area as the suspended day beds. I think there are 6 of them...photos that is, not beds. :) Four on one wall and two on the opposite wall. The two are hanging on ropes from the ceiling. Linda always has a creative way to solve challenges....you will understand when you the the wall. On these photographs I made the frames too. The frames are a rough sawn cypress wood with a Sherwin-Williams paint that was thinned down with water to make a translucent stain. Ethan Allen is our furniture sponsor for the Dream Home so I am only able to make items that they do no have. Green Home in the past is where I make many more pieces of furniture/beds.

Eugeina27....27 years young I suspect? I did some Googling and found some blast from the past videos. http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv186/videos/index.html http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/green_home/player/0,1000... I did the bed and the ABC chair rail. Sabrina was such a joy to work with. She still remembers me! Be still my heart! http://www.hgtv.com/video/a-look-inside-the-home-... http://www.hgtv.com/dream-home/home-theater-photo... see photo number 9. I did the B&W photography on the large format pictures. I really can do too much; please feel free to stop me at any time. http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/green_home/player/0,1000... It's a really good show, but if you are pressed for time, start at minute 22 and you will see the acrylic Birch Bark Log coffee table, the large mirror in the living room, the master bed and headboard, and mirror I made. Immediately following is the segment they filmed here in Bluffton. Warning: you will have to watch a couple of commercials back to back since you skipped into the middle of the show.

Good Saturday Morning to everyone. Today is the day to make the Turkey Noodle Soup. Now more important things. I recently talked to Linda Woodrum and besides another day of filming up at Kiawah for something or other... It seem like she has to be there every other week for a sponsor or show filming. (She is quite the famous one...I was traveling with her one time and she was stopped in the airport by many admirers). Anyway, she is now focusing on Smart Home and has presented some fun ideas for me to build. I must get a jump on them because I will be gone for 3 weeks starting just before Christmas. Mary sent me a proof of two videos. One is kind of an introduction of me and what I do for HGTV. The other shows me in an unusual way to paint. The suspended day bed is involved. I hope the videos make it off the cutting room floor. I still think there would be an interest in showing you all what goes on "behind the install" from the empty house to the camera ready home. I'm even thinking of buying my own studio quality video camera and shooting a few segment and presenting them to Mary for online. (That's what I did for the ceiling painting video...only I used something less professional.) Also coming very soon is the DIY project I put together for the building the suspended beds in the Dream Home. It really is a simple project. The hardest part will be the hanging of the beds. You don't want the beds to be on the ground when you sit/lay on them. I also sent Mary a blurb on the hanging of the gate...photos too. I not sure she will use the photos because the description I sent is for the tour. Someday I may get to share with you some of the photos I take as I go along with the installation. Maybe after everything is revealed I could put together a personal slide show of my photos and upload it to YouTube. I will run that by Mary in January. Nice talking with you all and have a very safe and joyous holiday season. I know I am a sub-par writer, but it is sure fun talking to you and throwing in a tease or two once and a while. -David
