My husband is British. We paid 2k for the lawyer and the minor fees and even though we messed up on the paperwork (I guess we should have sprung for the 3k lawyer) they gave us the benefit of the doubt. They had a separate waiting room for european immigrants. It was my husband and one other guy and a ton of empty chairs. Meanwhile the browns and asians were packed together standing room only. I've seen dogs treated better and this was Chicago....America's Red Square.
