pastapadre.com : Madden Ultimate Team First Impressions

Unless I missed it, can you not change the weather at all? (At least in online games) Nor does it even do anything nice like take the real local time and weather, so you are always playing a sunny afternoon. BORING.

My opponent disconnected on me and I was allowed to finish the game vs. the CPU, all my coins added up as though the game completed normally.

pastapadre.com : Judge Dismisses One Lawsuit Against EA

I don't think this is as good of news for NCAA as some of you guys think. The Historical players in Madden have always had the wrong numbers and such. Where as in the NCAA games, about the only thing missing was the players name. I could certainly see where a judge could rule in favor of the players in the NCAA case.

pastapadre.com : Public Madden 10 Demo Keeps Getting Worse

I have no problem with preorder bonuses, but it seems to me that offering demos, or extended demos, is counter-productive to the point of a demo. I don't mind early-access so much, but what EA is doing by giving people who ARE GOING TO BUY THE GAME ANYWAY the full quarters demo, where as in my opinion, it would be much better served giving everyone the full demo, and give the preorders early access, or more teams or something. My buying the game hinges on the demo (That and not getting castrated by my girlfriend) and finding out that said demo will only be 1 minute quarters doesn't have me convinced I'm going to get a good feel for the game.

Congratulations EA, you've now ensured that the local rental chain gets my money before you do, that's if I don't decide to wait to just buy the game used anyway.

pastapadre.com : The Wrap-Up: UFC 2009 Undisputed

I think it speaks volumes of this game that me, not knowing anything about UFC, downloaded this demo, loved it, and ordered the game from Amazon almost immediately. I find career mode to be a little boring, if only because the menus are cumbersome. Online fights are always fun, even when getting pummeled on, it never feels as though there is nothing you can do, just that the opponent knows what you are going to do (or gets lucky)

If they're holding block so you can't transition out, they can't be doing much of anything else, so either let them hold it until the ref stands you up, or hit them to knock them out (I believe if you hit them from underneath, they will have to reestablish the block.)

pastapadre.com : Playing Madden Raises Football IQ

I think it was an interesting (if somewhat pointless) study. And I can certainly personally agree with it. For some reason as a kid I never got into football (Looks out window at giant "G" on back of Lambeau Field scoreboard and gets even more confused) until I started playing Madden games. I first got interested in them around 96 or so, but didn't really care about them too much until they started getting really good (PS2 era and on) When I first played them, I was confused as all hell, about the only thing I knew was that on defense I had to wait until the ball was snapped before I could move, and even then, I would take whatever player I had control of and blitz the QB. I was royally confused as to why I lost the ball every 4 downs, and knew nothing of strategy or personnel packages. I became a football fan through Madden (Which I'll admit is sad when you live 4 blocks from Lambeau Field and have a cousin and godmother with season tickets) Pasta mentioned more current examples of NHL, and I totally agree on that. I've video taped the local USHL team for about 7 years now, and it wasn't until Be A Pro mode that I knew what a good majority of the stats actually meant. You guys that are knocking this study probably grew up watching football, around other people who also watch football. Sorry for the wall of text in the comment.
