Red State Progressive : Progressive America or Conservative America?

So very true. The conservatives view assisting our people with good help and ensuring measures are taken that they have good jobs and safe working environments as "Big Government" and Government "Control" yet somehow see controlling what people do in their bedroom, who people can love and what rights a woman has for her body, not as "Big Government" or a government "takeover" but rather as..."values"

Atheist Revolution : Christian Calls Islam a Superstition

Excellent point. Love the graphic too. It is the ultimate hoax of all time made even more dangerous by the fact that religion of any kind (like the politics of our day) are successful because they tap into the basest and ugliest characteristics of the human psyche...hate, fear, xenophobia, homophobia, pride and many such emotions...

Atheist Revolution : Do Christians Interfere With Your Ability to Buy Beer?

This is a major pet peeve of mine. There is not one single political, cultural, social or economic reason to restrict sell of alcohol and even more so to just restrict it on Sunday. It is an unquestionable grab of theocrats to force their morality and their religious ideals on others. My county is a "wet" county that restricts drinking on Sunday. The county I work in in Tennessee allows alcohol sale on Sundays in bars and restaurant. So let's think this logic straight (logic=a word Christians are very uncomfortable with) the religious right would rather a man go 20 miles to another county, to watch the game on Sunday and get drunk off his ass and drive home and kill himself or somebody else...than walk around the corner to the convenient store and buy a 12 pack and sit in his living room in the safety of his home. Brilliant.

Atheist Revolution : Nancy Pelosi is Crazy

While I am typically right on board with this kind of observation I have to ask where the problem is here. She is speaking to people of faith about faith. Now there is the unfortunate fact that the media has to pander to these people but in essence, if I have the right, and jealously defend the right, to not have faith, to not accept superstitions and myths, to not believe in God, "The Word" and the other imaginative fairy tales of the religious world...then I have to acknowledge the right of the people that choose to believe in those things, choose to accept the foolish and archaic idea of faith in something and somebody unseen of whom there is no proof or evidence. I do not agree with Pelosi or her views and her "faith" but I do agree that she has the right to say these things in the environment she was in. If she had said this on...let's say...the House floor...then I might object. But it seems to me that to judge her for speaking her beliefs in an environment tailor made and friendly to the same system of beliefs...while defending our rights and objecting to the likes of Bishop Nedd insulting our right to atheism...might be a little hypocritical. But that is just my opinion.

Atheist Revolution : A Message to the Vatican

Well I definitely agree that this is an attempt to distract the world from their very real problems. After all what could POSSIBLY be worse than a pedophile raping our future? Well of course somebody that doesn't hide behind a myth or allow other people to hide behind that myth. So the only way to resolve this is to of course....convert them. This way they too will not see the real problem...as long as the myth of God is covering it for them. In short it boils down to they need to deal with the group of people that are not cooperating with their program of cover up.

Atheist Revolution : Idiot of the Week: WorldNetDaily

In response to your note at the end....It is your flipping blog. Part of the priviledge of having your own blog is that you can say whatever you want to. If you see somebody as an idiot than there is no need to defend your choices. Just because you see them as an idiot does not mean that your readers have to agree. Idiocy is often subjective and those that criticize your choices need to start their own blog and then they can call whomever they wish an idiot. As for your choice this week....the "birthers" fall under a HUGE dunce cap with IDIOT engraved with neon lights!

Atheist Revolution : What is Christian Privilege?

Here is what i find utterly amazing about this concept of Christian Priviledge. Christians are the ultimate "victims". THEY are under persecution. My parents fear the gay and lesbian community because the gays want to take away their religious freedom! THEY are afraid of the athiests and humanists because WE are out to see their rights removed, see them jailed and persecuted. The very first thing Christians run to is the slippery slope argument in which if anybody that does not agree with them comes to power they will wind up in jail, on guillotines and chased underground in a wave of relentless torment and horrid persecution. They don't see the priviledges they enjoy, the special treatment they recieve. They do not see that they use that priviledge and special treatment to trample on the rights of those around them. They are the ones doing the persecuting....yet they are the ultimate "victims" in their eyes. Every administration gives them special treatment, yet they are being "chased" out of ourcountry, the very country they rule with an iron hand. is it just me? Am I exagerrating? Or are the people I interact with, including my parents, an oddity?

Atheist Revolution : Love the Sinner, Hate the Sin

Hate is the real sentiment behind the euphemism "righteous indignation". It elevates them above the sinner and puts them in a place to judge others. I always say let he that is without sin, cast the first stone, sitting astride his high horse from inside his glass house, trying to see around the mote in their own eye while aiming down their long nose, choking on their rose-smelling s%*^ and whistling to the tune of their black kettle blowing off hot air! This "hate" is their way of putting themselves on the "moral high ground"...nothing less and nothing more.

Atheist Revolution : Atheist PR: Does it Matter to Them?

I find Gary's e-mail in and of itself to be nothing but selfish pride. It is a sanctimonious "holier than thou" note lacking in the "christian spirit" of generosity that he is claiming to have. In response to ronlawhouston I disagree. I will not give money to a christian organization because they will inevitably use a portion for "operating expenses" as all charity organizations do. I for one am not interested in supporting the organization just to be able to give to a charity. If money will go to "operating expenses" then I will be sure that money goes to an organization and a cause I agree with. Just my two cents.

Atheist Revolution : Atheism as Religion

I also get the blackmail to go to church. I will help you do this if you go to church with me...which makes me wonder what is it with these people? Anyway, atheism is not another religion. In my opinion it is the rejection of the concept of faith. Faith accepts where there is no proof. Faith is the quick "reset button" that when you can't explain it you just accept it by faith. Atheism is (in my opinion) when that reset button is broke...you just don't accept it by faith anymore. The rejection of faith includes the rejection of religion. But...they just don't get that. It doesn't help that our government rewards religion, and our society makes religion of some form a prerequisite for social and buisness success.

Atheist Revolution : Atheism as Religion

This is an issue I face living where I do. I grew up in the very very old fashion fundamental baptist church. My dad is a pastor. At age 13 I was "preaching" at age 26 I was pastoring. I am now an athiest. The friends and family I grew up with see it as merely a rebellion (at age 33) because they cannot accept that I have decided to think for myself. Most of my childhood friends have rejected me because, "The fool hath said in his heart there is no God". When asked what made me an athiest I explain I had a painful, life altering experience...I grew a brain of my own. But they insist on seeing me in a different religion rather than my rejection of all religion. I have tried to explain to them that I simply reject all faith on principle, but they insist on it.

Atheist Revolution : Christian Evangelist to Women: Shut Up!

I am ashamed to say I know this guy personally, and growing up he was my hero, when I was to young and stupid to know better. Now at age 33 I am an athiest and I detest the fact that I share the same air that this animal breathes. He is a blatant racist, a crud self righteous prick that makes a very good living travelling around the country propagating his hatred and spiteful crudeness. I have been to his home in MS, when I was a teenager and played in his backyard with his kids. Back then he was my hero, and I thought My friend...since then I have completely distanced myself from him and his kind. I once said that if a heaven and hell existed I would rather burn in hell then spend an eternity with certain people in heaven...he was who I had in mind the first time I said it. I have heard him say such hateful things as "Stop burning flags and start burning fags." Have heard him say many many more hateful things racist, anti gay and anti women. If this is the love of "God" then I can quite do well without it thank you!
