WELP. We were camping when this went up, so here I am, four days late. Have one last picture of my kids playing on a beach here in Hawaii

is that not what you call them

I still like to call them candy babies, it confuses my kids but I don't care

This is the piece that made me resolve to follow Mallory wherever she ended up writing next. Also, "A wizard has stolen your heart" is tattooed onto my arm

At one point last year, there was a good chance that I'd end up in prison, and I just had no idea how to explain that to my children - or if I even should. Bear and the Toast community were there for me when I had no idea what to do, and nothing I say can accurately express how grateful I am for all of your help. I know I've said this before, but The Toast community has had a real, tangible effect on my life, and ... how do you thank people for something like that? I can't. I can't thank you all enough, and I just want you all to know that.

It took me an embarrassing amount of time to realize that everyone mentioning 'stir fries' was talking about the plural of 'stir fry,' and not some fancy new way of making French fries.

It is amazing! It's a beach named Hapuna and it's on the other side of our island. We had a ton of fun!

I use What Hawaii Likes To Eat by Muriel Miura and Betty Shimabukuro constantly - there's a mix of Asian and Hawaiian and American food in it - I'm using their adobo recipe today!

I also like Hawaii Cooks And Saves. I will say these recipes all have kind of a Hawaii spin on them, so I don't think they're like 100% authentic.

ETA: sorry my links didn't work so I took them out, but both of these show up on Amazon

I just started listening to this musical, I think it's called Hamiltons? Maybe some of you have heard it, it's pretty good.

i know it came out a while ago and i'm late to the party but how could I have known this album is so great?? it's not like i visit a website on a daily basis who's co-creator and entire commenting section unendingly sing the praises of this play

anyway, I feel real dumb for waiting so long to listen to something that literally hundreds of people told me was great

I don't have any helpful advice, but I can commiserate! We had a hard time getting our son to go in the potty, and after trying everything we eventually made him clean up after himself if he made a mess, and shortly after he stopped making so many messes (he was 3).

Our daughter was a lot easier, we told her that if she wants to go to preschool she has use the potty, and she figured it out in like a week (she was 2).

So I guess my advice to you is to bribe your kid with preschool and friendships
