Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : Crazy sermon props.

Wow, must be doing the same sermon series. My pastor did the same thing, except (and I can't figure out the logic here that led to it) he had a congregant use a PEN to set off the trap...one 30 ink-stained pastor's shirt (and subsequent 30 second laughing fit) later...it actually topped what happened in the other service when the umbrella he used as a prop broke and closed on his head (no, didn't spring closed...gravity just took it's effect)...

Aaron Shust : Tour Journal - July 2nd - "Peter Prison Prayer"

Love the spin you put on this. Really looking at the whole story beyond just the miracle, which usually gets all of the focus. Interesting question, as taking the emotions out of the equation it was not God who killed the guards, but man. I would like to believe that: a.) God could have stricken down the guards a.) The miracle of the escape would only solidify my beliefs b.) This miracle would only be heightened if I believed in my family member's integrity, knowing he didn't simply bribe his way out etc. c.) I'd be sad for my relative that I could not lead him to Christianity in time. But that's clearly a detached view. It would certainly try my faith like anyone who has a loved one taken away. I might even get upset when hearing of Paul and Slias' escape that clearly had the hand of God on it and in fact led the jailer to salvation, upset my relative didn't get the same opportunity. But I'd still think that the undeniable proof of God's play in this coupled with His side winning, even at the cost of family, would entrench me on His side. Thanks again for presenting the "360 view" of this miracle. Definitely food for thought!

Aaron Shust : Tour Journal - Day 2 - March 18th "Walter"

Well, the plus side to all that's been happening on this tour is that it makes for good blog stories. Small consolation I know, but I really appreciate how you keep your humor about you even when dealing with things like severe back pain. You've had to deal with much more than your fair share of issues so far on this tour and it's just begun. Praying God's power shines through and things turn around quickly.

Looks pretty good! A few standard start-up warts & bugs but all in all a big improvement over the "portal page" you used to have (contact to report bugs?). Will this content be linked to your Facebook page (like the blogspot blog was)?

Ragamuffin Soul : What was the last CD...

Last October went into a Parable store to buy the Casting Crowns Christmas CD. Before that was technically "Canvas and Tentpole:" booth run by another Parable store at a Christian music festival. Bought Third Day's Revelation (saw them later that evening). Of course the Casting Crowns was the last CD I bought, though I've bought a few full album MP3 downloads since then.

Great post, Mark! I've had this annoying habit of putting the guitar down for a month every time I've built decent callouses up. Then pick it up again and have to start anew. It hasn't been an "active choice" thing as much as a "stuff happens" thing but it provides a setback nonetheless. I'm glad I have the playing for Sunday school gig, as that is virtually every week and I usually end up spending some time during the week practicing to ensure I remember how to play the songs. They are usually simple songs, but I always end up doing more than just the kids' songs once I actually have guitar in hand. Good luck on the reset!
