I know the facts. The guy was mad because his marriage wasn't working out and Rev. Peter Sayenko was counseling them. This man is crazy and blamed the pastor for his failed marriage. He stabbed him because Rev. Peter Sayenko told him he is going to call the police because the man was belligerent and he reached for the phone when the man struck him in the face and then stabbed him in the back. There you go. I'm sorry for your loss. But I was just saying that personally I wouldn't be riding my bike at 1 am on a Friday night. I know what can happen at that time of night and on a weekend. I wasn't trying to judge him, I was saying that his action seemed Sounds like a great kid but accidents happen. My friend was chopped up by a boat motor because the boat she was on was packed to the limit and when they took a turn she fell off and went under the motor. My other friend had to jump in the water and hold her in the middle of the lake while she was bleeding to death and her inside were coming out. She was the only selfless person I knew on this earth. The driver (not my friend, don't know the guy) didn't get charged or anything even though some people say he was being reckless. Would it make me feel better if that person was in jail, probably not. All his friends are saying how bad he feels and whatever. But I don't care, he took my friend. But I still wouldn't feel better if he was to suffer too. I didn't mean to sound like I was judging him. Just his action. Of course I feel bad for this whole situation.

I meant it was a mistake as in, Pavlenko wasn't driving around looking for someone to hit. Plus, I think we are on the same page. I just think you are very obsessed with what his bail would be, but other than that we are on the same page. Lol, I'm not working out my feelings on this board. I'm just shocked at how everyone is just making comments about how this guy should be punished so badly. Like I said, wait till you make a mistake and then you will see at how easy it is for others to judge. I'm just trying to be humane about this whole situation. This guy didn't hit the guy on purpose, he messed up, he messed up real bad. He will have to live with this his whole life. Nothing people do will make him feel as bad as he feels already from his conscious. I'm not related to this guy but I have met him a couple times and he is the most sincere person I've met. Did he do the "right" thing in this situation, probably not. How would we react if we just did that? I don't know. This kid just got excepted into NYU to get his MBA, he did not mean to hit this guy and probably just freaked out. I feel bad for both parties but we are not animals and need to understand that causing more pain is not the right way to handle this. Plus not all the info is out about this so who knows what the circumstances are. Maybe he dozed off and hit this guy and then freaked out. Who knows maybe he had a mental break down. We don't know everything that happened. So lets not all be so quick to judge, thats all I'm saying.

So ponder me this: You are standing at a light and you get a green light but you see a car coming pretty fast on the perpendicular side of the intersection and you aren't 100% sure if that car is stopping or if it's going to run ITS red light. Do you go because the rules say go on green or do you stand on green and wait what happens first with that speeding car? That is where recklessness and arrogance comes in. When a person knows that it's not safe but does it anyways because he thinks he is in the right or that it's going to be alright. I'm a great driver but I still have insurance because I know a lot of idiots don't know how to drive. Be real.

Lol, in a perfect world you would be right. But this world we live in is far from that. You have to always think of what the consequence will be for your action. This young man on the bike made a horrible decision by thinking he would be safe at 1 am on a Friday night in the bike lane. Um.... I get that ... I actually pointed it out in my post. I understand that not all people think and look at situations open-minded, but to think that you are safe in the bike lane at 1 am on a Friday night is reckless and arrogant. People hit bikers in broad daylight and this kid thought he was safe at 1 am??? If that's not reckless and arrogant then I don't know what is. I agree that in a perfect world the bike lane would be safe at all times. BUT, this is by far not a perfect world so you have to take extra precautions to survive. It sucks but it's the truth.
