Still waiting for the movie about Andrew Friedman and the Tampa Bay Rays. Oh, wait...the sports media doesn't suck up to Friedman the way they do to Billy Beane.

Another example of how low the modern-day entertainment industry has sunk. I just hope the Howard family gets some money off of this.

Thank you for making those points. It seems that non-baseball fanatics love Billy Beane more than real baseball fans do.

She was hot-looking in the early 30s. Sometime in the late 30s she started to get scary looking, and it continued from then on. I guess this means Stanwyck has to be in the top three.

Big Hollywood : Today's Open Thread: #9 Irene Dunne

I think there may be a rights issue involved. I don't think Universal actually owns it....I think MGM bought all the other versions when they made the 50s version. I don't know for sure. Another reason to put this on DVD is that it may be James Whale's best film (non-horror, anyway).

I'm a huge Kim Novak fan and agree with you (and I gave you a thumbs up). I have nothing against Monroe, but she is more a symbol than an actress, more style than substance (sound like any present-day politicans?).

In my veiw, the Queen of Technicolor. What was great about Maureen, among several things, was the fact that she could be tougher than the leading men she played opposite against. She could ride, she could shoot, she could handle a sword....if Ben Affleck and Matt Damon were somehow sent back to the fifties and they wound up in films, Maureen O'Hara would have kicked their asses.
