Partisan means you have fixed political values and are unlikely to be swayed by the opposing side, bipartisanship is both parties working together despite their differences through compromise and hyper-partisanship is the refusal to work together resulting in gridlock. I merely meant to comment on the unfortunate nature of both sides to use tragedy to further their political ends.
