I fail to see how this is even remotely possible. Then again I'm all distracted and giddy by reading the phrase "unlimited mimosa brunch". I'll get back to you when I calm down a bit.

Dang! Thank goodness nothing fell apart while you were driving, and that it's not a horrible amount of money to fix. On another note, they make plastic gas tanks now? What, making them out of tin foil would have driven the cost up too much?

I just found out. I'm stunned. I guess I shouldn't be stunned, but I'm stunned. And appalled. I know it's Florida, but even still. I just can't absorb this. I thought at least manslaughter, for sure.

Oh Dr. Brown Black Cherry is great! I love their cream soda too. I will usually get one of those on a rare occasion if I'm eating someplace like Katz's or another kosher deli type place.

Yeah, the flavored seltzer is cheaper and easier to find in whatever store I happen to be in, if I'm out of it. I like the San Pellegrino soda too, though. I have had it when I've had lunch out on occasion. I just try not keep as little sugar in the house as possible. If it's not here, I can't just grab it without thinking when I want something in the middle of working at home.

Same with me, Haysi. I usually have one bottle of flavored seltzer in the house, black cherry is my favorite but I like some others. I have very little sugar nowadays, and when I do, I don't wan't to use it up with soda. I don't drink those flavored seltzers with artificial sweeteners though, I can't have artificial sweeteners at all. Besides the artificial sweeteners, the amount of chemicals in diet soda are scary. RE: Perrier, have you tried the Pink Grapefruit flavored Perrier yet? I heard about it and got a bottle in my Fresh Direct order last time, it was pretty good.

Dottie is LA so I don't think she has a 311 type number to call as we have in New York. But my vote is for her to say something to them, and/or call the authorities during the week and see what's legal and if she should call the cops or file a complaint with some community board or something.

Wait, they have their own house with their own yard, and yet they're doing this in front of YOUR house every weekend? ( I somehow had it in my head that this was an apartment building/condo situation.) That makes this even MORE ridiculous. Honestly, I can't see how you've put up with this as long as you have. I think if it was me, the first or second weekend it happened I would have come out and asked politely what on earth was the deal with the whole noisy menagerie on the sidewalk and see what they had to say for themselves. I might not have called the cops immediately, but they would know pretty quick that I was not thrilled with the situation, and maybe found another place to set up the carnival.

Crasstalk : Sunday Open Thread

First of all, I don't think you are being a cranky misanthrope by objecting to this. The whole thing sounds ridiculous, both the constant noise for hours on a Sunday, and the fact that they are treating the strip of grass next to a sidewalk ( not even the sidewalk in front of their OWN building, although I suppose their own actual next door neighbors don't deserve to deal with this any more than you do ) like a freaking PUBLIC PARK. Seriously what is wrong with them? I can't imagine that the income they are getting from selling lemonade is something that's really helping them in some kind of financial need. I'm guessing that they consider this a "teaching experience" for the kids. Maybe they think they get more foot traffic on the corner, or maybe they already tried this act in front of their own building and those neighbors complained. In any event, a) You're not a dick for not buying the stupid lemonade. For one thing who knows what's in that stuff, the kids might have stirred it with their grubby hands for all you know. b) Yes, the grass is a public area , in terms of the fact that anyone should be able to walk on it, but that doesn't mean it's zoned for people sitting on it all day, let alone selling stuff there. Make a couple of calls tomorrow and see what you can find out about what's permitted there and what isn't. Then you have your choice next Sunday of asking them politely to set up camp somewhere else, or calling the cops on them, anonymously if possible.
