Being a journalist is one of the hardest, most time-consuming jobs you can get. Being a commentator is so easy that any fool can do it. Rush Limbaugh never passed a college course, for instance. And, Limbaugh only works about 3 hours a day, blowing hot air and flapping his jaws. Even so, Sarah will now have a boss who will require her to meet deadlines and fulfill obligations. Quitting will get her nowhere. Thus, begins the education of Sarah. Perhaps, she will learn something about politics in her new job. Perhaps, not. The good news is that the reputation of FOX news will suffer even more, and she has taken herself out of the 2012 race. It's a modest win/win for Democrats. She now has a soap box to promote her loony theories that will make the Republican party seem even more like a crazy choice for rational Americans. The major downside for all Americans is that she is such a nutcase, she may start calling for us to get science out of our schools, and try to usher in a New Dark Age.

In this schizophrenically confused and often violent Disneyland, which we call America, I profess that sometimes putting on the Mickey Mouse ears and playing the fool is as good an option as any. And, until the Philosophy section in the local bookstore in anytown, USA is just 1/10th the size of the much larger Christian book section, I really don't have much of a choice.

The Vietnam war was drafting people instead of using a volunteer army. Many college students shuddered at the idea of fighting for an unclear cause, on foreign soil for people who really didn't want them there. My father, who was working on his PHD at the time, explained it to me like this. He said that he didn't want to get drafted and have some illiterate foreigner--who couldn't read or write--blow his PHD brains out. As for conservatives, I tend to get a long with them as long as politics aren't discussed. They are bascially good people on a certain basis. But, I have to wonder why they have such a negative reaction to poor people while many of them profess to believe in Jesus's teachings. I understand that they would prefer charity to come from private people as opposed to a government nanny state. This model may work great in really small towns, and I have seen it work there. However, it is impractical in mid and large cities, where close community doesn't really exist.
