Well... it IS a rare victory. I see you're discounting handhelds, so there are essentially only 3 systems to analyse. "2nd place spot... behind only the Wii" is still 2nd... out of 3. Maths was never my forte, but I don't believe 2nd is classed as a victory.

But the games that DID made the list sold more. And one can see big names like Mario, Wii Sports, Zelda, etc. Again, big, mainstream franchises =/= shovelware. The argument here is not that poor quality games don't sell, because obviously they can. But shovelware doesn't move systems. If we're talking about Wii, what made its success was Wii Sports. Success comes PRIOR to a wave of cheaply-produced software aiming to capitalise. The same could be seen throughout the PS2's lifespan. To say that shovelware brings with it "success and riches" is just... wrong. And wrong to an extent that's worrying coming from a developer.

"that don't affect/interest 90% of the people involved (gamers)" This is such a selfish view from the gaming community that is totally ignorant of the bigger picture. E3 isn't exclusively about 'gamers'. E3 is the only annual event where the mainstream media's lenses are on Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft, thus the eyes of shareholders fall on them too. It's the time of year when the companies present what they hope to keep share prices high for the year. So the announcements will be geared to cater for that too, not just gamers. Sorry to suck the fun away, but this is reality.
