The house was originally designed and built by the couple we bought it from who are retired. Compare the before photos.

SID the metal medallion is right above me in this photo: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CoT8ioPWIAAcHid.jpg It also has a tubular skylight in it. There's got to be some photo of it some where in the photo tour.

Hey Albert, unfortunately the height is a result of FEMA requirements and every compliant house down there has the same setup.
