Are you afraid of that "gay stuff" all over the place? Oh brother...media, video games, etc. had nothing to do with my daughter figuring out she is gay. Someone stated below about these things - media's (TV and otherwise) been around since time began (in other words, media is SO NOT a "recent thing") and video games do not teach gayness.

Ah, but by your own logic, you are stating that EVERYONE'S thought about it because of "so much gay stuff all over the place." I guess that means all the homophobes and everyone, yourself included - that you have considered whether or not you are gay.

You don't have to be an unreasonable pill, but I will still remain calm whilst I explain:

When my daughter was 6, she asked me (in these exact words): "Why do some boys like boys and some girls like girls?" I always had a standing rule with my daughter: If you are old enough to ask the question, you are old enough to deserve the honest answer. I explained to her that the sex of a person does not matter; if the love is for real, it's a beautiful treasure.

When my daughter was 10, she had suddenly run out into the living room and exclaimed, "I think I am gay!" I went into the room with her to talk - turned out she thought she was definitely gay if she thought another girl was attractive. I told her not necessarily, because I am not gay, but I can find beauty in other people, women or men. She seemed happy she could talk to me...

This carried on into when she came out to me at 15. As we talked about it, she said it was something she knew all along, even before she asked me her first question at 6. She is extremely intelligent - she finds it sad that many of her other friends cannot talk to their parents about their sexuality like she could talk to me. She said that was what made it easier to talk to me about it - my openness and willingness to talk. I am extremely proud of my daughter!

Hope this is a good enough explanation for you.

My 19 year old gay daughter knew something was different when she was six years old; then again when she was 10. Yes, even when young, they may already have a pretty good idea.
