KOMO - Seattle, WA : Initiative may call for revision of Seattle arena proposal | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weathe

If Seattle squanders this once in a lifetime opportunity I will laugh and enjoy when another city builds an arena which will truly make Key Arena a big paper weight. You reap what you sew Seattle! When you tell Hansen to piss off, don't get mad and look in the mirror because its YOU who failed the city!

I'm embarrassed to have any affiliation with Seattle! This is a city that just cannot accept a good deal. They find reasons why something shouldn't be done. The city council sold us down the river once, why wouldn't they again? The ego of the council is so immense its dangerous and infuriating! What does the city gov't do when someone wants to donate 800 million dollars in land, facilities, infrastructure and teams? These bozos tell them to F off! Chris Hansen had nothing but good intentions and these clowns slap him in the face! SHAME ON YOU CITY COUNCIL. You are the most regressive entity in this state! No wonder Boeing HQ left. Why would anyone want to do business in Seattle? The ego and "can't do" attitude on this council is abhorrent! I'm embarrassed!

This has nothing to do with sports. This is a human being who got caught up in the addiction of drugs. Drugs make you do things you other wise wouldnt do. He should pay for the people he harmed but he is no monster. I find this whole ordeal sad and anyone that finds humor in this, this would speak to your own character. Sad sad story!

Guns don't kill people...People kill people. Should we outlaw driving because of drunk drivers? 11000 deaths because of drinking and driving. Change how people think, lets not blame the law abiding legal gun owners because of the couple idiots

Lets not over react. YES the cities shootings and murders are dramatically going up at an alarming rate, anytime someone gets shot or whatever its disgusting. That said Seattle doesn't get a whole lot of murders per year. Example: Chicago. So far JUST this year they have 198 murders on pace for almost 400. Sure its a bigger city but 198 murders is incomprehensible. Chicago isn't even considered that bad. Projected homicides in 2012- Dallas 151, Houston 364, San Antonio 121, Detroit 364, Denver 49, Baltimore 252, Oklahoma City 74, Cincinnati 88, Cleveland 102, Atlanta 74, Philadelphia 374, Pittsburgh 60, Kansas City 106, St Louis 156, Los Angeles 261, San Francisco 92, San Diego 54, Phoenix 176, I can go on and on but you guys get the point..What is Seattle projected homicides for 2012? 22

You know nothing about the situation in Seattle, you most likely aren't even from here. Using your moronic logic why should KC have a team if they already lost one? KC is trying to get a team too. Speaking of HYPOCRITES! You are an outsider looking in and know NOTHING about the circumstances or the climate for sports in Seattle. Asking if Key arena was paid for just goes to show how little you know. Go back to the armpit of america in Kansas City!

My point is we all pay taxes on stuff we don't necessarily use. I'm not against taxes for schools, parks, social services etc just because I don't have kids who go to school, use park or social services but we all pay taxes still. Having a arena, leaving sports out of the equation is a money maker for the city just like Safeco and Centurylink field has for the city especially Centurylink because it can be used for so many other types of events besides sports. When the NCAA final four used to be in Seattle this city was making a killing with the economic boom this provided. They wouldn't even think about having it at Key arena now. The Pepsi center in Denver is a good example. The national democratic convention brought over 200 million dollars to the Denver region. Without Pepsi center this would have never happened. State of the art arenas cost a lot to build but the $ they can bring a local economy is invaluable. Seattle is missing these types of big events with a glorified gym being the only facility within Seattle. Concerts have been going to Tacoma, smaller sports teams are leaving to other venues and other events are going to either Tacoma, Kent or Everett. Seattle for its size doesn't have an arena that reflects its population and importance in the world.

I got an idea for those who don't like the NBA, MLB or NFL. DON'T GO TO GAMES! If some want to complain about hotel/motel and restaurant tax revenue going to build the stadiums DON'T RENT A HOTEL ROOM or RENT A CAR! Simple! Unlike others you have a choice to not spend your tax dollars on a stadium. Me? My taxes go to libraries, (I don't go to the library), schools (I don't have kids), and parks (I don't go to many parks). Do I want to stop paying taxes for libraries, schools, and parks? No. But unlike stadiums the average tax payer has the choice not to rent a car, and get a hotel room. Also the choice to attend pro sporting events or not. My point is stop telling people whats important to them and what their choices should be. If you are against hotel/motel taxes going to stadium, then get up and do something about it. Create a grassroots effort to get that revenue stream to pay for school, libraries, parks, police/fire, social services etc.....Complaining about a tax which doesn't effect the average family is short sighted and naive. I'm not suggesting that tax revenue should pay for all stadiums, but I think some tax money should pay for a small part of stadiums because the city via taxes and merchants gain so much money from all the events going on at these stadiums. How can you want the revenue the facilities bring, but at the same time not put a dime of your money towards this? But like I said. You have a choice to pay for these stadiums. People who don't go to libraries, parks, or have kids don't have the choice to pay taxes for these items

I guess if you can afford to go out and eat, then money isn't to tight in your family. If you are against your money going to a very small part of the stadium build then you shouldn't go out and eat. Without Centurylink and Safeco field this city wouldn't be the same. The revenue they make for merchants, and tax payers outweighs the money via car rental and restaurant taxes paid by people

Did you read the article? This plan is not to use tax dollars. Since when are people saying its going to take away from children and freakin potholes? Not 1 proposal has had the language in which it takes away from any social services, roads etc, its misinformation like this that is toxic to any progress. Stop whining, do some research no one is talking about taking away from anything.
