<title>Central Oregonian : Time to change unemployment insurance</title>
<link>http://www.centraloregonian.com/archives/Story.aspx/11863#IDComment128204537</link>
<description>Is the NCRC a one-size fits all program? A professional person with over 30 years experience, two college degrees and making around 99K goes through a corporate shutdown and gets laid-off in the process attempts to collect unemployment insurance. The person goes online to fill out the forms and initiate the claims process only to find the they must take the final step and spend some time at the local state office. Upon arriving finds that every computer in the office is posting an over load status. And, why is the person with the two degrees and 30 years experience even there... to take a reading and basic math test. Yes, it is demeaning, The first thought that comes to mind is; &amp;quot;you&amp;#039;ve... got to be kidding me&amp;quot;,,, &amp;quot;am I in the wrong office?&amp;quot; After reporting to CEOs and Presidents for more than 20 years the best match the state has to offer is an administrative assistant which the person never was to begin with. The algorithms for key words used by the state are so far off base I don&amp;#039;t think anyone with more than a high school education would find a career...excuse me...job. But, if you don&amp;#039;t go through it ... no weekly check. There has to be a BETTER WAY! </description>
