On a note of the new models: I like the old flamer model better than the new one (although the new box will be cheaper). The new plaguebearers are superiour to the old ones and come cheaper - I've got a critique here though, they're supposed to be solemn and serious but most of them have this wild grin on their faces. The screamers are also better looking and cheaper.

I played on a scan for a long while until my main opponent (and one of my oldest friends) got a book. It speeds the game considerably - having played with a book now I wouldn't want to play without one. Reading is one thing, playing is another so I can fully understand (atleast from my perspective) the pause taken. Will be waiting for the return. On a side note - flamers got quite the boost (I don't like the new models as much as the old ones though). G. Z.

Ok this post is super late, but I like this blog so I'll post anyway (it's an old topic and it's unlikely that anyone will read that but whatevery). There's a Charles Dickens story in every club so mine wouldn't come to anyone as a surprise. I've been playing 40k since 4th edition - marines(everyone gets marines at one point or another), eldar, tyranids, but instead of wriging the boring story of my first encounter with the hobby I'm gonna tell you of how I came upon my daemons.
There was this guy at the local club (which I don't visit that often having a table and some regular opponents at home) that swaps armies like underwear (eventually gave up warhammer at all). He swapped some armies, never painting anything or putting some determination behind any of them. Finaly he got the daemons. He played for a while with them then kinda left them to lie around in the club for close to two years. So did the poor army became the bitch-whore of the club - anyone who'd come to try the game was given the daemons, anyone that wanted to proxy something used them, everyone had played them at some point of time or another (including the owner who somewhat continued to play from time to time). And when it wasn't used to proxy something it was left on the tables to gather dust (and some dust it has gathered mind you). The club moved it's location 3 times in a row with the dameons dragged around. Meanwhile the guy put his daemons for sale (the ones that didn't get lost in the crowd or during the movements). Roughly a month ago I found myself with some cash and shelled 300$ for the army. What I got was a dirty, partially primed, kind of broken and beaten up army that was otherwise doomed to rot in a box. So I squared my shoulders for the task ahead (Fallout reference) and set myself on fixing it up. A couple of days later I had managed to dust the models off, wash them, remove any flash, sprue pips and mold lines (which were left on the models since the army was of "tabletop quality". Tabletop quality my ass...), repair, reglue and fix broken parts and fix the assembly holes with greenstuff. Thus they were ready for painting. Meanwhile 6 edition hit the world and I played my first game with the daemons. Which brings me to the present moment. That's the story . Not a terribly exciting read but the reason I wrote it is because one of the things I hate with blinding rage is people neglecting their models and I feel kinda noble and good by telling everyone the story of how I saved the daemons :P

Played my first game with daemons in 6th against Necrons and almost won - it was a very close game. 3 main points.1. You get to place terrain. 2. You arrive at 3+ (automatic at 4th turn)3. Fleet is the shit. How I'd play from now on? Cluster terrain around objectives, deepstrike into cover/LOS blocking terrain, wait a turn to achieve critical mass and then lash out.

Templates afflict D3 hits upon the charging unit. Blast weapons can't be used to overwatch. Crushers are still the same to everything except terminators and for those I guess flamers or slaanesh demons would be better suited. (oh and 2+ captains also - challenges for these, rending is now a good upgrade since it negates 2+).

Heya. New man here. Some days ago I picked a daemon army from a guy and will be playing my first games in 6th with it. As for sixth - I think it's definately worth it. Today I watched a good buddy of mine play two games. 1st Necrons vs SW and second Eldar vs CSM. Couple of points - characters (heralds for example) are extremely easy to pick in single combat now because you can pick how you charge a unit - it's not any more shortest distance, not to mention challenges. Shooting has taken a boost with reduced cover saves of area terrain (you'll generally be taking most of the time some save but in an area terrain it'll be one less than it used to be). Second - overwatch now hurts somewhat a charge (but the charge is deadly given you can pick out models depending the direction from where you charged and the challenge rule). What I can figure out for the daemons - reserves now arrive very easily (on 3+ second and third turn, automatically at 4th and up). For daemons for example Bolt of tzeentch is not that mandatory since vehicles are very easy to hit even if they move and with the hull point rule and a possible extended charge it means that you charge a vehicle and you've got a VERY real chance of destroying it. A unit of screamers now chews through vehicles AND MC alike since bombs affect them now. Other random points - psychic defense (except eldar - they rock now) is nerfed. Eldar are back in the psychic game with divination and telepathy which both are very useful schools. Necrons with gauss murder vehicles (combined with teleporting crypteks it is very troublesome). Missions are nicely done. If I can sum it in a sentence from my perspective: If you want to kill something there's a way to do it in 6th - whether it's an IC, hidden powerfist or some other model the wound allocation rules and flanking maneuvres is what it's about. That's it for now.
