Anyone who has been to their Motor Vehicles Department lately knows this is true. Also explains the popularity of the Kardashians, and just about everything else in California.

KTLA-TV : L.A. City Council Considers Pothole Tax

Actually born in that state, I came to my senses and moved out many years ago. However, this situation is not unlike that faced by voters in many states and in Federal issues as well. If politicians REALLY want a specific tax for a specific reason, then they should include in their proposal that the funds raised would go into an ACTUAL trust fund, run by a professional Trustee. The Trustee would not disperse the funds for any other reason, in this case, than pot hole repair. I believe if more ACTUAL Trust Funds were used, citizens would be more accommodating on raising their own taxes for specific programs.

A former boss used to tell this story: Frank goes to his boss Bob and says, "Bob, I've figured out why we clash so often. We have a personality conflict." Bob says to Frank, "You know, you are correct. Change yours." Good advice for China.

Yes she did speak at two campuses, but canceled one appearance after hearing, inter alia, "Even before that appearance, Ms. Coulter had been warned by François Houle, the University of Ottawa’s provost, that someone who makes intemperate racial remarks can be prosecuted in Canada." That is a country where you cannot speak your mind, unless you are an all seeing, all knowing swami who knows what an "intemperate racial remark" is OR you love being prosecuted.

I sympathize with the Muslim businessman. But the story here is not the invasion of his privacy without due cause and the racial profiling. Nope, the important takeaway is that this happened in Canada, a nation fond of wagging its cold extended finger our way and lecturing us about human rights. It's the country Ann Coulter can't speak in, and where radio stations can be fined and penalized for carrying a broadcast the PC crowd thinks is racially "biased" or comprises Canada's own definition of hate speech. Looks like Canada is suffering an extreme case of bipolar personality disorder.

Defense Tech : A Basic Mistake That Trashed a JSTARS

I'm not sure why it's important to focus on whether the error was made by a civilian contractor or an active duty person. The fact is that PEOPLE have been making errors in the maintenance of aircraft since the Wright Flyer. You can compile Best Practices and Lessons Learned until you are blue in the face and PEOPLE will continue to mess up. Supposedly, Quality Control functions are there to find and correct mistakes like these before they evolve into catastrophic accidents. Where were those functions in this case?

I'm not sure why this is even worth reporting on. I assume wherever there are Muslims, there will be torture.
I'm going to buy a Fusion this year, and considered the Hybrid version. It's OK if you don't need a trunk. Hybrids make the most sense from a convenience viewpoint, if your lifestyle is compatible with their limitations. However, for most consumers, the compromises in size in size and cost one must make are still a very steep hill to climb.

Breitbart.com : Owning car, TV linked to heart attacks: study

"...Until now, surprisingly little research has focused on how physical exertion at work and play influences the incidence of heart attacks, and even less has directly compared this data across nations at all income levels." Perhaps the second part of this sentence is true. The first part is horse patootey. For as long as I can remember, we've been inundated with information about the need for exercise throughout life. To say that there is "surprisingly little research" is ridiculous.

Yawn. This movie has been shown many times before. It is never about "talks," it is always about "buying more time." Of course, the West, as optimistic as a school girl dating the high school quarterback, always believes the "talks" will lead to something "substantive." But it never does.

Clearly, in most developed countries, there need to be more people pulling the wagon and fewer people riding in the wagon. The transition to a good balance is going to be painful. The left has already shown that when they can't achieve something just by hand lettering a few signs, they foement confrontation and violence with the police. And the people at OWS are relatively well off and well educated. Professional agitators can't wait to get their hands on a really angry, large crowd. We stocked extra shells for the street sweeper last week.

"The next stage for this leaderless movement, which sees itself as independent of political parties and claims no particular demands, remains unclear for now" Great sentence! I might point out, that the goals and objectives of THIS stage remains unclear, much less the NEXT stage. There is one development in the OWS saga that I eagerly await: further reporting on the bickering underway over the $500K that's been collected (donated) so far. You know this is going to have a super ironic ending at some point. I'm hoping for lawsuits at a minimum.
