I have a theory on this global warming crap. It is obvious that the whole idea is about money...enter Cap and Tax (or Cap and Trade). Just an aside; I personally think that God created the Earth and it is going to do what it is going to do regardless of whether we are here or not. I think it is arrogant to think that we can have that much of an effect on God's creation. But if global warming were actually caused by our CO2 emmissions; why not plant more trees? Trees absorb CO2 and produce oxygen. What does adding taxes actually do to help our environment? If our politicians were worried about about the Earth instead of money, they would plant trees rather than add taxes. I am not a "tree hugger" by any means, but I do have in laws who are. Of course they don't actually do anything about what they believe, but they are more than happy to give others a hard time for not believing the way they do and I thought of this to combat their BS. Don't know if anyone else has the same problem with others in their family, but I have found that combating them with actual facts really makes it hard on them. God Bless America.
I am not saying that I love credit card companies. I just don't like the government putting their nose in any business. I don't care what the business is. I don't like the government bailing out GM, Chrysler, AIG, or anything with our money. I don't like government invloved in anything but what they are Constitutionally allowed to. I don't like the government to grow in power, PERIOD.
I have a question if someone can answer for me. This credit card bill that now makes laws as to what the credit card companies are allowed to do and not allowed to do. It basically tells the credit card companies how they can do business. Isn't there somethig in the Constitution about how the Government shall not pass laws singling out inviduals or groups of individuals? Not that our current Government is following the laws set forth in our Constitution, but isn't that law unconstitutional? Isn't it singling out one group of individuals? If those laws are going to be made shouldn't it have to apply to any form of credit, mortgages, car loans, etc.? I just don't get it.
I understand the desire to keep the guns out of the hands of criminals who will use them for no good. However, gun laws and laws to prevent "loopholes" affect law abiding citizens not criminals. If someone is planning on killing or massacring many people, they are not worried about what a law says about owning a gun. If they were they would be worried about what the law says about killing innocent people. If guns become outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.
If you look historically in countries where they take away the guns, the very next thing they go after is religions. They know that religion holds people together in a tight group. They also know that there is strength in numbers. They know that if they take away the guns, it stops the ability to fight. Then they go after religions to take away people ability to gather and freely speak about God. The second ammendment is the one which protects all others. We can not let them get our guns because they will try to take our Bibles too, then our freedom of speech. What did Obama really mean with his comment about clinging to our God and our guns?????
One thing that I have found works with the liberals around here LorryL is to compare what Obama has done with the things they hate about the last 8 years. One major point is to bring up the national debt and how it is growing so fast. Any "good" liberal will IMEDIATELY point out that Bush doubled the national debt, To this I simply reply that I thought Obama was going to "change" from the politics of the last 8 years, not follow in Bush's footsteps. The only thing you can really do is get their mind off of Bush because in their mind nothing Obama can do is near as bad as the last 8 years. But to show them that he is just following up with Bush's plan really irritates them. Bush signed the TARP plan which started all the bailouts and Obama hasn't stopped spending money since. Republican or Democrat, I don't think it much matters, our government needs to be cleaned out. Hope this helps.
Is anyone else just sick and tired of our current government? Does anyone feel like they won't listen to us? Like they think they know what we want better than we do? Does anyone feel like they have their own agenda that they plan on going forward with no matter what we think? Is anyone else just sick and tired of all this? I have emailed and called congressmen in my state, some reply as if they care and to them my hat is off. Most of them, if they reply at all, reply with some form letter that clearly shows that they didn't even read it. I don't know what happened to our country???? But I feel like the country I love is going down the tubes. I want my country back, but don't know what to do. I am just frustrated as hell and can't stand it anymore.
K9erec I think that you should be proud of your contribution to our country! I am very thankful for your sacrifice and wish more people would be thankful for the freedoms they have. The truth that many do not want to listen to is that someone had to fight for us to be allowed to practice our freedoms. And that fighting could not happen without brave men and women giving their lives so we can enjoy this great country. Thank you and God Bless you!!
Elliott our guns are for protection against criminals, government that is out of control, whatever we need protection from. But we also use them for hunting for food, target practice for fun, etc. They are not only for shooting people. But if we don't have them, how do we defend ourselves, our freedoms, our families. The second ammendment right is the the one freedom that can protect all the others.
