The IPAB (Independent Patient Advisory Board) will determine who gets health treatments and who doesn't and who gets to see a doctor and who gets to see a physician's assistant or a nurse. The government will make the final decision on all aspects of a patient's treatment and will override the doctor's recommendation at every turn. That's in the bill. Oh, and while Obamacare forces everyone to pay for abortions, it will not pay for PAP smears or colonoscopies. You're on your own. Even if Obamacare is killed by the SC, the rates won't drop unless across state lines competition is allowed which will force them to lower rates. My husband and 2 of my sons had to switch to catastrophic care only because our family plan had become unaffordable and my son with a pre-existing condition was kicked off his plan by an insurance snafu and now has to either pay up $2650 (he's currently out-of-work and is a part-time student) to cover for the 4 month lapse or he has to go on PCIP after being without insurance for 6 months. My broker told me that as of July 1, 2012 everyone will be forced to carry maternity insurance, even single men and women beyond their childbearing years. Of course, there are exemptions for O's union pets, cronies and Muslims. I was told, but did not confirm, that on page 107 of the bill/law, it exempts the Muslim religion only.
