OMG!!! Let me make it simple for you. 1) The author claims that non-interventionists use a quote by George Washington on "non-entangling alliances" to support their stance. 2) The author does not give any quotes or links to examples of non-interventionists quoting George Washington to support their stance. 3) My point is that the AUTHOR is misquoting non-interventionists, and that the quote that would more appropriately be discussed is the one by Thomas Jefferson in his inaugural speech. 4) By using the George Washington reference instead of the Thomas Jefferson reference, he's missing the point that non-interventionists are making. 5) I did read the article and I understood it thoroughly - thus my response that the point is ill-made that doesn't address the actual popularly used reference. 6) YOUR lack of reading comprehension does not constitute arrogance, ignorance and paranoia on my part.

Well part of the problem is that the author is addressing the wrong reference. Usually, it is Thomas Jefferson who is quoted from his inaugural address, saying "Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations-entangling alliances with none". I have never heard anyone claiming that George Washington said this. It would have been a good idea to be sure he heard his opponent correctly before addressing claims that were never made.
