You do realize The Onion is a joke site right? Anyways if a man walked into a children's classroom with a knife he could easily kill the teacher and all the children. As gruesome as that is its true and nothing would stop the killer. Or he waits till kids are walking home and just runs them over with a car. This world is a scary place and taking away my right to protect myself isn't going to make you safe

But the kind of person who is willing to kill someone none of what you mentioned would have do anything because that kind of person wouldn't care. Mental health is the key but if that person hasn't committed a crime of had actual court orders no background check will say anything.

That's an out right lie. Do you have any idea how gun sales work? When you buy a gun from a gun shop you fill out a form and provide a state ID while you are filling out the form the seller calls the ATF and gives them the information and all the background checks are done. It's takes an hour at the most. Some states have waring periods but the actual background check take minutes. What eles do you want? The Background check covers all past criminal activity and things like orders of protection and restraining orders.

All states have federal background checks on all firearm sales I don't ont know what your talking about unless your talking about the black market sales and why would they do background checks they're criminals (^o^) lol. And guess what here in America we have a Constitution unlike other countries. Places that have no such rights and all out bans on guns still have gun violence. Remeber with two gun men shoot up France while police who have no guns literally laid on ground and killed. In Isreal they are experiencing knife attacks daily and many of them deadly. When people want to kill they will and nothing will prevent it.

Hate to break it to you BUT NOTHING CAN PREVENT THIS KIND OF THING. if someone wants to kill you no law is going to save you. Only you can protect yourself. American was founded on freedom not safety. Thoses who would trade liberty for safety deserve neither.
