Big Hollywood : Series Finales Show Hollywood Still in Same Old Rut

Good post, Kurt. Re: the Star Trek / Terra Nova connection, that's EXACTLY what worried me when I saw the opening credits the first time. Being an SF fan, I always give these shows and extra viewing in the hopes that they'll develop. Star Trek (TV Shows and movies in the Rick Berman era) was so steeped in PC it was gag-inducing. I kept hoping for some "inter-philosophy conflict" as I watched and was continually disappointed. In addition, "Seven of Nine" walking down the corridor with those outfits on and NO ONE turns their head? C'mon...that's just not right. I thought "Enterprise" would remedy that (I had hoped) and did to a small degree, but it was not to be... Maybe one day we'll have an SF show that includes the intensity and "non-pc" approach of "Breaking Bad".

Sorry, but when no crew members turned their heads to check out Seven of Nine in those scenes when she walked down the corridor, that's when I knew that this show had no insight into humans

Big Hollywood : Today's Open Thread: TLC's 'Surprise Homecoming'

Call me pessimistic, but I fear they are going to take what would be a beautiful moment, and turn it into reality TV "drama" like "Kate Plus 8" or something. People aren't themselves when they know video cameras are around. I'll bet that, while you can watch the real homecoming videos on YouTube, tearing up at some of them, this show will have all the emotion of a brick.

Big Hollywood : The Patriotism of 'Mr. Smith Goes to Washington'

When Sarah Palin first came on the scene, and was subsequently mauled (yes, some self-mauling did occur, didn't it?), one of the first things I thought of were the scenes in this film of Edward Arnold (Big Jim Taylor) firing up his "machine" to take Smith down. I'm not a big Palinista, but I couldn't help but think that the hidden hand of today's "Big Jim" was pulling some levers somewhere.

Big Hollywood : How TV Shows Get Ruined: ‘Human Target’

I agree. Liked the show and was looking forward to the larger story arc that I THOUGHT was developing. I was wondering where this season was going...it just seemed different. Now I know it's not just me. Maybe the producers will move it to USA, get the 1st season team back, and team it up with Burn Notice. What is UP with Fox and their frakkin' with good shows? Firefly, Milennium, "Sarah Connor Chronicles", etc. Now I'm wondering why they put "Fringe" in "the dead zone" (Friday night)!

Big Hollywood : NBC: What Will Comcast Do with the Rubble Zucker Left Behind?

I haven't watched all of USA's shows, but I DO watch Burn Notice and Covert Affairs, as well as Stargate: Universe on SyFy. I've noticed that these shows are enjoyable, entertaining and, for the most part, politically neutral. Burn Notice is, with hot chicks shootin' guns, refreshingly "non-PC". Hey Comcast, I don't know if these shows would cut it in network TV, but please bring back some politically neutral comedy, adventure, drama and science-fiction! There's a whole freakin' audience of conservative viewers out there who want nothing more to be entertained and not preached to. I'm sure most of us couldn't care less if righties are lampooned as long as lefties are equally lampooned.
