But most of all we just didn't have any of those great spring days. Even the days that ended up being good wasn't really forecasted that way. Either you're going h3ll or high water or you're going only if the weather is good. A lot of people only plan on coming if the weather report early in the week is great. I think the reason for lower attendance over all for the FBS is simple... there are just more smaller schools that moved up. We may have (or will help)move the average up, UNCC would have lowered it. I don't think anyone is giving up a tailgate or game day because it's on TV. That was kind of proved with the NFL which is why they don't blackout like they use to. While I'd like a true playoff system, like you said it still going to be for...second tier so I'm not sure what it proves. I think bowl games should be a show time for rivals to battle it out, bragging rights! We just have to think of rivals only being against a team in your conference or a NC instate team. I see the best of the SB vs CUSA an interesting must watch to me. This year is a little screwed up because it's not the best of the SB, but next year I think it will be. I hear everyone crying about too many bowl games, to be that's like saying too many schools have FB. Why don't we just have half or one quarter the number of FB teams we have since most of them don't mean anything? I say that in jest, but was a APP vs WCU any less fun to watch because neither team was conference winners or going for a NC. I was here when APP didn't have a chance for either, but we still wanting to beat WCU. Are we ever going to be considered for a National Title bowl, I have my doubts but we might play and beat on of those teams (maybe even at home). More likely we will hopefully build some rivals in the SB and with non SB teams and even more likely build some of these bowl games into "trivial games" with other conference, while moving the conference up and moving up in the quality of bowl games. You have practice, recruiting, play planning, etc during the week as well. Not to get in the battle about teachers because I will have two daughters teaching, but they are off during the summer, don't work on saturday, etc. A certified teacher with 5 years makes approx $4100 a month with is about 50/year if they worked 12 months. Plus a professor makes in the 60k range, I think, but yes they usually need a higher degree. I don't disagree however that 50K isn't bad and if you're good you move up fast as we have seen. If you don't win or can't get that first break however, you end up a teacher. Like the only game I think that couldn't be seen this year was the C-USA game (maybe there was others, but that's the only one I can think of). To that I say no thanks! I think that Sinclair worked the deal with C-USA thinking that consumers in these big markets would demand that their local cable provider carry SN to watch their school, which I'm sure didn't happen in charlotte. All in all our numbers aren't too bad considering that our record at the first of the season was bad and that we really didn't have one weekend that was expected to have good weather (some turned out ok and were fun anyway, but not what really brings people to the mountains). I know it's going to be hard to have a large showing with the student's gone but maybe the team's performance will get a few more out for the final game.
