Read my post again. I was talking about Salisbury and not Raleigh. Salisbury has not had a tax increase in over five years. I agree with you about Raleigh tax increases... constant... but go tell it to the teachers not me.

If you look at the facts that aint right. They havent raised taxes as long as I can remember, even during revaluating time when Rowan County actually did take a tax increase on the sly. I remember voting for Tina Hall cause she said no tax increases, and darn if she didnt allow the county to raise our taxes during revaluating. Sneaky.

Actually I remember reading several several years back when they were doing the interchange that private donations from community members totaling $300-$400K were going to this "gateway" project, with the balance being paid by state DOT.

Guess our state and federal tax dollars could have ben exported to do a top level interchange in Charlotte or Raleigh instead of doing one of our own.

COATES couldnt be reached for comment... Who would want to do an interview on why they voted to raise everyone's taxes during a tough time like this. I commend Steen and his wisdom. As for Coates, sounds like she was on the Dems leash and voted with the Basnight, Rand, Hackney crowd. There were some Dems that voted no, she could have joined them.

Not sure that would be the best group. Sides going on the ABC board would create an undeniable conflict with him running for county commission. Whedbee lives in downtown Salisbury in a big ole historic house, and is a city boy with a never ending crave for attention. Everyone knows and sees that on television.

If they reappoint, it needs to be just plain regular people who know something about business and ethics, not pure patronage and crony appointments like you suggest. Talk about making the situation worse through more favoratism!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
