Longmont Times-Call : Republican candidate Ellyn Hilliard announces run for Colorado House - Longmont Times-Call

It's unfortunate that our country's petty partisanship has brought us to the point that we call people "warm bodies" based upon the (R) next to their name. As far as I can tell, she's devoted her life to healthcare and public service; she has a Ph.D. in holistic care and a small business dedicated to supporting cancer survivors. I don't know everything about Ms. Hilliard, but I do know that she deserves far more respect than you've just shown.

elephant journal: Yoga, Sustainability, Politics, Spirituality. : Park Service to Bulldoze New Mexico Stupa

The real story here is that the Federal government has continued its legacy of pointless and destructive eminent domain seizures. Stupa or not, petroglyphs or not, eminent domain is simply the politically correct term for stealing a family's home at the point of a gun. And for what greater good do we perpetrate this injustice? So that the Parks Service can create the illusion of wilderness - carefully contained by handrails and auto loops - a monument to the people we've chased off those lands from 1800 to 2010. The NPS is just one of many three letter thugs that have overrun this country with misguided good intentions; if only the people could see the forest through the trees.

elephant journal: Yoga, Sustainability, Politics, Spirituality. : A New Year's Resolution Worth Considering

I've recently switched to Elevations Credit Union (available to any Boulder residents). It took at most 1.5 hours from the moment of inspiration to changing out my last direct deposit and they even printed my debit card on the spot. I was most concerned with ATM availability, which they apparently have covered for free through a nationwide network of credit unions. As for the website ... it's just as functional and friendly as Wells Fargo. Two thumbs up.

Daily Camera.com: : Boulder County home values see first annual drop in 21 years - Boulder Daily Camera

That's .5% of the index, which is limited to federally backed mortgage values and calculated as the difference of means (average prices). The 7% is limited to homes that actually sold and calculated as difference of medians (middle prices). Ahh, the joy of stats ... at least they went in the same direction.

Daily Camera.com: : Bling! Gold price spikes - Boulder Daily Camera

This is neither confounding nor remarkable ... when you print money and issue credit, it is called inflation. When you inflate the dollar to the tune of trillions, you will encounter devastating increases in the costs of commodities. The hard money folks have spent years warning us of the imminent erosion of the middle class due to irresponsible government spending. Time to listen? http://thegalt.com/economics/money-banking-and-th...

Daily Camera.com: : RTD cuts among topics for Boulder City Council candidates - Boulder Daily Camera

I hate to put a damper on the tea-bagging jokes, but I'm registered Green (since '04) and my political views are steeped in a variety of philosophies. That said, I do think we could benefit from a little more reverence for the value of our neighbors' time / tax dollars when dealing with the budget gap. The options that I oppose are: cutting city services, raising taxes or maintaining a budget gap (all of which deny government accountability). The alternative is: find new efficiencies through cross-departmental synergy and better integration of technology (let's get creative). I am one of few candidates who is steadfast in my statements across all venues and audiences. Feel free to disagree with my principles, but please do not question my integrity.
