Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : Stand Up & Lead - 3/13/09 - 3/23/09

Part 6 of 6 -- I feel that the rumblings and this 912 movement are for naught UNTIL such time as the next elections come our way and THAT IF WE DO NOT VET OUT THOSE FOR WHOM WE VOTE and get fresh faces in to office we are in for the same vittles they are dishing out right now. We have just under two years to get this movement rolling. Thank Heaven for Glenn Beck! Let's Roll Then!!!!!! (remember what that meant)

Part 5 of 6 -- That is why it is so important to find out who it is that we elect beforehand, because as we are finding out, they do whatever they want once they get elected! I can only imagine that they must laugh themselves to sleep at those of us that voted for them and how they have fooled us to gain the power that they so unrighteously wield. I feel that all of our letters and emails to our congressmen and senators have fallen on deaf ears.

Part 4 of 6 -- I realized all of a sudden why in the neighboring city council meeting our voices had been dismissed. We were #1 not even residents of their voting base and #2 even if we were residents, we only represented a fraction of the percent that got them elected. If we had been there by the thousands, it still wouldn't have done anything.

Part 3 of 6 -- "Yes, that is right. They must consider all the residents of the city and not just the ones that elected them" he said. I then said, "So, how can they know what the other 49 want if they never get off their behind to make it known? Wouldn't that just give an elected official the ability to do whatever they want? And, when challenged about their actions simply state that they are merely representing the rest of the population (those that never made their voice known)? That in essence, once elected they can do whatever they darn well please?" His answer: "Pretty much".

Part 2 of 6 --In the most recent class our city planner explained how only 1 out of 50 residents of the city voted for those put in to office, but that it was the city councilmen's responsibility to consider the other 49 who didn't vote when making any decisions for the city. I asked for clarification and his answer astonished me. I asked "So even though I go out and vote and make my voice known, the city council members elected all of a sudden take it upon themselves to represent the other 49 who didn't vote?"

Part 1 of 6 -- A few months back I attended a city council meeting in a neighboring city that was proposing a massive government subsidized housing project across from our subdivision of .25 acre lots. After a 25 minute rant by the mayor telling all present that nothing we said could change what zoning they had passed, the time came for public comment. I stood up and asked the mayor if this project was such a good idea, when was he going to move himself down next to it and live? He got very upset at me to say the least. Our neighborhood formed a lawsuit and lost and the buildings are going up as I speak. In an effort to not give up on government in general I have begun attending classes put on by our city that are an introduction to the system I have not had the time to get to know (I own my own business and work on average 14 hours a day, 6 days a week).
