KOMO - Seattle, WA : Obama to GOP: Restore unemployment benefits now | KOMO News - Breaking News, Sports, Traffic and Wea

You are too right Sgt....just hope that that "NO" doesn't get reported. Companies like Express employment and other temp agencies will report that. If canadian wanted to, he could report them for not showing....that would lead to an investigation/possible loss of claim. Nothing you can do about the intentional crappy interview. If you let them go for performance or lack thereof, they are not entitled to a claim unless they can prove good reason that they were not able to do the job. It isn't as easy as just being fired. Not arguing, agreeing with you moreso, just want to make it clear that just getting fired vs. quitting a job doesn't cut it when claiming unemployment.

Also, when you get into the EB (Extended Benefits) phase, you are no longer bound by the requirements truetoform mentioned above, you have to report 4 contacts, not just log them, but actually report them when you file your weekly claim. You no longer can just look for work in your field, or what you are used to making. Pretty much any job above minimum wage is a qualified job at that point. You are expected to apply for any job that you are capable of doing, favorable to your line of work or not. http://www.esd.wa.gov/uibenefits/fileweekly/eb-ad... Hope this post helps.

Canadian, not sure if you ever got your answers.....as an employer, if you invite someone to an interview and they fail to show up, they can/will lose their benefits. One of the first questions on the benefits application is...Did you fail to go to a scheduled interview? That being said, I am sure alot of the emails you get are simply to "make the job search requirements". As someone that is looking to hire, this puts a bad taste in your mouth and wastes alot of your time.....this, in turn, messes it up for the people that truly do want an interview with you, as you have to waste so much time sorting them all out. As for the second question, if you take a job that is less money than your unemployment compensation, you can still claim the difference...it isn't dollar for dollar, but they will reduce your compensation amount to relect wages earned.

Veggie, you took the words out of my mouth. Too often I see minivans and cars with kids running loose in them (up North as you mentioned) and it is almost always Spanish families. Sadly, I don't even think this story will impact any of them. If common sense doesn't tell you to buckle kids up, then example probably won't either. Sad, sad story.

I live in the area. My friend got a call from his girlfriend. According to her it was her cousin in this crash. The emergency she was responding to was that her mother just committed suicide. That being the case, she should never have been driving in the first place, it is just too distracting and tragic to be thinking, reacting, driving rationally. I am very sorry for the father in this situation, to lose two loved ones like this. Such a sad story with an even sadder ending. I don't know what else to say about this. I will say that I drive HWY 20 weekly and I hate the way people drive on it!! They are either too fast and pass irresponsibly or too slow and don't pull off as required by law. We end up in a conga line of cars and people get impatient and start passing three cars at time. We had a motorcycle pass us the other day down the yellow line between us and oncoming cars! So scary to have my kids with me on this road at times. Thoughts are with all involved in this tragedy, especially the truck drivers and the family.

I just wanted you to be aware that this group is a wolf in sheep's clothing. They are nothing short of a terrorist group with their extremist actions "in the name of animals." I would never give these guys a dime either, they would just use it to pay for arsonists and criminal acts to bully people into supporting their cause. If you truely want to help the animals, donate to Humane Society, Pasado or your local no kill shelters, choose not to eat meat, get your animals fixed, and so on. Timshop linked a great website that you might look into and here is an add on to his suggestion: http://www.petakillsanimals.com/article_detail.cf... Also as an after thought, not sure if you have kids Ruby, but I wonder how you would feel if someone tossed red paint on you and your kids as you were leaving an event they didn't support, or sent your kids home with "your mommy kills animals" literature. I would smack them upside the head with a dead fish! Please don't take any of this as an attack on you or your post :) I just wanted to make sure you understand the other side of this organization you are defending.__

Perhaps she is keeping it together and being strong for her daughter-who at this point, as far as we know, is still alive. I don't know how I would react either in this situation, I hope none of us ever have to find out, but I would hope I would be able to be strong. Getting hysterical and losing it wouldn't help bring Lindsey home. Don't be so quick to judge based on if she worries or grieves (or doesn't) the way you think she should.

But it smells sweet and is large enough to eat a small child!! :) I agree with you VS. A worm that has been seen 4 times in 110 years. I hate to see a species go extinct, especially a native one, but do we even know it isn't already extinct? I guess I would rather see the farmers keep their jobs than to see us have to import grain from abroad to save something that may or may not still be around.

Hi Loga, what is wrong with it is it is just as illegal as walking on the tracks, and as dangerous. Like Rocky says, the trains are wider than people think. The tracks and 8 feet on either side is railroad property-PRIVATE PROPERTY- and train right of way. Rocks can get kicked out by wheels, as well as metal such as pennies that idoits put on tracks, all of this can become shrapnel. I will never get tired of saying this: STAY OFF THE DAMN TRACKS!! I do get tired of having to say this, my prayers are yet again with the train operator and the family, the innocent victims. If people just listened, and obeyed the laws, we wouldn't have to keep train operators and crews in our thoughts and prayers as they recover from these tradgedies. Next time someone needs to take a shortcut, cut across a junkyard with mean ole junkyard dogs, your chance of survival is certainly alot better with them than trying to tangle with a train. STAY OFF THE DAMN TRACKS!!
