It sounds to me like he knew exactly which way was north, but he wasn't sure where they were compared to where they started. If someone is just out hiking, most people aren't going to be keeping careful track of the direction they are moving in until they think there's a problem.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Man injured, half-blinded when firework explodes in face | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather,

One of the big reasons I like lighting my own fireworks off is the sheer variety. Those professional displays are all exactly the same - ball flies up in the air, explodes into other balls, making various shapes, colors, sounds. The consumer ones can do things like spin on the ground emitting sparks, shoot fountains of flame and sparks, slowly levitate off the ground and then go shooting up, move along the ground, make buzzes, screams, pops, whistles, etc.

When was the last time someone was mugged or shot on the downtown Seattle waterfront? Heck, the news stories over the last year of people who were shot around downtown Seattle, the people shot were ALWAYS involved directly with the shooter. Nobody was randomly shot just for visiting the downtown.

I saw the half hour thing Kiro did on it. Loading should be pretty quick, what they do is load 1/4 of the wheel at a time, get one full revolution after everyone's loaded, and then unload 1/4 at a time. It's a total of 15 minutes and everyone gets 3 full revolutions.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : First Tesla electric sedans hit the road | Technology | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking News

http://www.teslamotors.com/blog/plug-it "Even in cases of neglect, the latest Tesla batteries are industry leaders. The earliest Roadsters will take over two months to discharge if parked at a 50 percent charge without being plugged in. From that starting point, Tesla has consistently innovated and improved our battery technology. For example, a Model S battery parked with 50 percent charge would approach full discharge only after about 12 months. Model S batteries also have the ability to protect themselves as they approach very low charge levels by going into a “deep sleep” mode that lowers the loss even further. A Model S will not allow its battery to fall below about 5 percent charge. At that point the car can still sit for many months. Of course you can drive a Model S to 0 percent charge, but even in that circumstance, if you plug it in within 30 days, the battery will recover normally." As for the Leaf, when you buy it they make you sign a warranty contract that states the warranty will be void if you go longer than 14 days at 0 charge without plugging it in.

They did solve that, a long time ago. You can leave the Model S unplugged for about a year before the battery completely dies, because it won't let you get that low - that 160 mile battery would actually take you farther if they didn't limit it after their experiences with the Roadster. And it's got a number of failsafes to keep that from happening (including an expensive option you can buy where Tesla is alerted if the car is left unplugged for a long time, and they actively seek out your car to try and get it plugged in). And all other electric and hybrid cars have the exact same issue, including the Leaf.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Officials worry about creatures on tsunami dock | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather, Sports,

Which is why I'm saying, why fight them? Why spend billions of dollars trying to interfere with nature? It's one thing if humans are the ones introducing species, but here you have a natural process, wouldnt have been any different had it been a large log that got swept across the ocean. The article you linked only gave 3 reasons for fighting that one kelp: it gums up the bottoms of boats and marinas (same as any seaweed), and somehow interferes with oyster farms. Looking up the zebra and quagga mussels, they have apparently greatly filtered and cleaned the Great Lakes, making them much more clear and pure, and provided more food for other local wildlife. Seems a decent trade off for occasionally having to clean pipes.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Virgin Mobile gets iPhone for $549, $30 per month | Technology | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Brea

I don't understand your question? The iPhone 4 is quite a LOT higher end phone than your Optimus Slider. Screen resolution 640x960 compared to 320x480, comes with 8GB storage compared to your 2GB (though for extra money you could buy larger cards for yours, iPhone is stuck with what it comes with), camera is more like what you'd get on a $200 point and shoot while yours is a basic cell phone camera... Sure for basic phone calls there's probably little difference, but for people using their phone as an all-in-one phone, organizer, web browser, camera, and even game machine, it's a very huge difference. This is big news for people interested in iPhones because before this, in the US the cheapest service you could get for an iPhone was $75-80 per month, because all the iPhone plans required contracts for a minimum level of service that includes 450 minutes of talking time and lots of data. And for people like me, who maybe uses 60 minutes of voice in a month, paying for 450 minutes is a complete waste.

What do they think these creatures could threaten? The fishing industry or something? I mean, it's a natural event, species hitching rides across the ocean and reaching new areas, and sometimes for a while becoming dominant in the area before the ecosystem adapts. Why should we try to stop nature from doing what it's been doing for millions of years?

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Judge temporarily blocks Wash. sex-trafficking law | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather, Sport

The law doesn't say any of that. It doesn't mention accepting money for sex ads at all. What it basically says is, if someone makes a post to a website or publication, that includes an image of a person (such as the avatars used by this here commenting system), and their post could be construed in any way to be offering a "sex act" for any return, then the website is committing a crime if it hasn't required physical proof of age using government ID. So for example, if I said "he can have my vote if he kisses my ass", well there is an offer of a sexual act for a return, and if I were 13 years old KOMO is now committing a crime for letting me post that. That's what the law sys and why it is too vague.

Because its a stupid law that breaks the first amendment. Do you really think dating sites like Match.com would stay in business if they required everyone who signs up to fax them their government ID? And if they make a law requiring specific acts before letting someone say something, and not allowing it to be said if it fails to pass rules and regulations, where does it end?
