KOMO - Seattle, WA : More kids skipping school shots in Oregon, Washington | Kids, Pets & Family | Seattle News, Weather,

I am astounded at the idiocy of these vaccine-avoiders. Yeah yeah, correlation does not equal causation, but when you're talking about essentially eradicating many of the most terrible diseases in the world, I would have to say I THINK vaccines are worth it. The people forgoing them now are just hoping everyone else's vaccinations will protect them, while they put the rest of the world at risk. Maddening.

The ignorance and assumptions made in that lady's comment is just mind-blowing to me. How does she know those diseases were in 90% decline? Has she taken a look at statistics ANYWHERE? If so, is she ignoring the fact that vaccines have essentially eradicated numerous diseases that used to plague society?

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Just days after liquor privatization, some drinkers feeling buyer\'s remorse | Local & Regional | Se

If you shop around, you can find cheaper prices on a lot of booze. Just like any private commercial product, you will find variance from store to store. Look for the sales, everybody, don't insist on buying your preferred brand from your preferred store at your preferred time. Smirnoff was cheaper for me at Costco, though Jager was significantly more expensive. If I want to buy Jager, I'll check out prices at some other stores. Just like any other product. No biggie.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Some liquor buyers now heading to Oregon for better deals | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather

Man, so much confusion around here, and so much anecdotal evidence being generalized as fact. Yes, it's true--with privatization, liquor prices at SOME stores for SOME brands will be higher (just like ANY other product). But it will also be cheaper in some venues. I saved about $4 on my Smirnoff vodka from Costco, compared to previous liquor store prices. The price of Fireball whiskey was about the same, and the price of Jagermeister was much higher than before. The difference is now you need to shop around to find the good deals, as opposed to having a set price statewide. THAT'S WHAT PRIVATIZATION DOES! If you INSIST on purchasing a specific brand at a specific time, be prepared for a possibility that you'll pay more--just like if you insisted on purchasing name brand clothing, food, or appliances at any specific time without waiting for a sale, coupon, or for a store to have a good price on it. This is working exactly as designed. If you don't like it, opt for Aha instead of Patron when it goes on sale, or Sailor Jerry instead of Captain Morgan, or Sky instead of Smirnoff. You'll find good deals if you're flexible, just like with any other private commercial products.

Which is exactly why the bubble will not burst, at least not for decades. Because the debt can't be written off, they simply start garnishing wages, social security if the debtor gets old enough, even unemployment insurance. Since banks will just start taking the money they're owed their balance sheets will not be affected and the bubble will never burst.

You make solid points, but this is a rampant and widespread issue, which easily pushes it into the "abusive" or "predatory" category. Yes, 18 year old college freshman are adults with critical thinking skills. They are also young, impressionable, and caught up in a whirlwind of change and new experiences as they enter college. We are allowing our young adults to be preyed on by multi-billion dollar marketing firms, essentially throwing them to the wolves. Then we claim they "should have known better" as they endure years or decades of hardship as a result. That is a harsh lesson to learn.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Escalating bank overdraft fees | Consumer News | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking News | KOMO

This is absolutely true. You don't want to link your checking and savings, for this very reason. Most banks charge at least $10 for the transfer fee when you overdraft, so you're really only saving $25 or less... it's not worth the risk.

Trash! I've had a car stolen from me twice, and it's infuriating. It feels so violating to get your car back and realize there's someone else's BO stench in it, someone's grubby paws sifting through your things and taking what they want and yanking the electronics out. One of my friends had her car broken into and was robbed while she was working out at LA Fitness... sounds like it was probably this guy. It's a shame she won't get her possessions back, but hopefully this SOB stays locked up for a long time now and gets what he deserves.

That's true, but Montero is about as close to a can't-miss-prospect as you'll ever find. He may not be a lock for 30 dingers/.300 average, but he had Justin Morneau type numbers in the minor leagues, and he's still only 22. There's always the possibility of getting burned with trades, but when your offense is as bad as the Mariners' is, it's time to take a risk or two on some bats.
