http://www.conservativehome.com/ : Vaccines. The United Kingdom v a "rules-based organisation".

I find it absolutely incredible that some on here seem quite willing to see the old and vulnerable in this country die as long as we give some of our home produced vaccine to others who haven't had the wherewithal to get their act together. It shows just how deeply engrained is the love of the corrupt EU by the Remoaners. The EU had it's opportunity at the same time as we did. They failed to take it. They now have to take their place in the queue as has been pointed out to them by AstraZeneca. Well done Boris and the Government. They acted quickly and nimbly. I am extremely grateful that they did, as I was lucky enough to have received my first vaccine last weekend. Had we been part of the failed EU procurement policy, if one can actually call it that, then I would still be waiting for many months yet. The EU has been a shambles once again. Now others still in the EU are breaking ranks and sourcing their own vaccines. It would have been for batter for them had they done so in the first place. I'll bet that they won't make that mistake again!

Quite correct. Fake Tory Agent has come out from under his stone where he crawled last December. Ignore him and his fifth columnist EU apologists. They are yesterdays men, who have done everything that they could to undermine democracy. They have failed, and it is good to see the rabble so utterly destroyed.

How very, very true. An Association cannot run itself. It requires volunteers, and a level of professionally paid staff. In my opinion, the Party needs to adopt far more widely the example of the West Kent Federation, where several Constituencies came together under the auspices of a very capable agent, Andrew Kennedy, and all worked out of one office. The hardest task is to actually achieve the level of working together. Far too many Constituencies would rather, it seems, struggle on alone than collaborate with their fellow Constituencies. Until that mind set changes, it will be hard to make progress.

If they can't do that, then they should be booted out.

http://www.conservativehome.com/ : David Skelton: It was working class voters who delivered this majority - and Johnson must not abando

Sometimes it is necessary to look to the past to deliver for the future. Any 'Reset' must have the North of England firmly at its centre. Those working class men and women, many who voted for us for the first time, have put their trust in the Conservative Party, and Boris, to deliver; firstly on Brexit and then the economy. With a growing economy the other elements of Government become possible. Health, welfare, housing, roads and a whole plethora of needs can be delivered. As a 'Working Class Tory' myself, although not from the North (My family moved South from Yorkshire over a century ago) I very much associate myself with the working men and women of this country. As I mentioned at the start, lessons can be learnt. I have always been a great admirer of Joe Chamberlain, although he passed away long before I was born. 'Our Joe', as the people of Birmingham used to call him, really delivered municipal policies for the people rather than political dogma. There is a lesson, and a very big lesson, to be learnt from how the Chamberlain family, originally radical Liberals, but who became Conservatives, really delivered for Birmingham. Looking at how they did it, and bringing what Joe Chamberlain did into the modern age should be an aspiration, in my opinion.

This is the last squeak of the 'Remoaners' who simply cannot get it into their heads that at four elections now (The Referendum, the last ever Euro elections, the 2017 general election, and last December's general election) the British people have voted overwhelmingly for those who have said they will leave the EU. One only has to see the concerted effort of the likes of Gauke and the old lush Soubrey that this is a planned attempt to derail the democratic wish of the majority. Boris had better not cave in now, for if he does, it will be the end of him, and the Conservative Party will be out of power for a generation, if not longer.

http://www.conservativehome.com/ : A one-term President Biden?

If - and it's a big If - he does actually come out as the winner in what has been the most crooked American election I have ever had the misfortune to witness, then he won't last one term, let alone fight again in four years time. Biden is very obviously, even to the most casual observer, suffering from Dementia. Yes, it may be in its early stages, but it is worrying when he calls Donald Trump 'George', and then calls his son in law (I believe) by the name of Biden's dead son! Why does anyone think that he (Biden) remained hidden away in his Basement for the duration of the election? He was never subjected to real scrutiny, and the Media were behind him almost to a man. This had been planned all along. The Democrat Party knew that they could fiddle the voting figures, and therefore did not want Biden out there where his shortcomings would become glaringly obvious to all; and his 'Running Mate' Kamala Harris is a real Socialist, and she kept her head down during the campaign. It is now apparent that she will succeed him as his Vice President when he is declared 'unfit for office' sometime in the next year, or two at the most. I used to think that Mayor Daley, former Mayor of Chicago during the 1960 Presidential election was a first rate gerrymander. He can't hold a candle to the current load of crooks fiddling the vote in the Democrat Party.

Well said, Hank. The so called 'Democrat' Party in America has form for vote rigging stretching way back. The infamous Mayor Daley of Chicago ran the famous 'Democrat Machine' which harvested votes and rigged them for the Democratic candidates, particularly in the 1960 Presidential Election. It probably goes back further than that.. The level of voter fraud at this American election is staggering, and makes the USA look like a Banana Republic. Whoever wins now will have no real credibility, and I am beginning to doubt that Biden will be actually sworn in as the man is obviously suffering from ongoing dementia. This, of course has been the plan all along get the amiable old fool elected by keeping him out of the public glare (hiding in his cellar) and if he gets elected replace him on 'Medical Grounds' by the appalling Kamala Harris, a Socialist who is red in both tooth and claw. Heaven help America when the wake up to what they have done. The days when the Democrat Party in America was a middle of the road party are over. To all Americans, tighten your belts! You're about to be shafted by Socialism!

A 'Grown up'????? Biden is a senile old man suffering from Dementia, who has been in Politics for forty years and achieved nothing! Couple with that his behaviour around young people, girls in particular, has already gotten him the name of 'Creepy Joe', and over here he would probably be known as a pervert. He has been involved through his family with some pretty crooked deals over the years, particularly with China and Russia.
Biden is a crook, and it has now been shown that the so called Democratic Party are run by crooks. Biden shouldn't be in the White House, he should be in Jail. If the situation regarding what he and his family have been up to for years were to occur over here, they would be drummed out of office and be facing criminal charges. The way in which the voter fraud has been allowed is unbelievable. The postal votes and the way that they have been handled would simply not be allowed here. It is sad to see how the USA, one of the largest democracies in the world, had been reduced to the level of a Banana Republic. And so it looks as if America will have foisted upon it, by crooked practices, an old man clearly in the first stages of Dementia who will not last a year in the position as President; but that has been planned, as the dreadful Harris, ably assisted by the equally appalling Pelosi, will either take over, or use Biden as a puppet and pull his strings, assuming that they are not doing that already. It does, however, throw one big voting issue into the limelight over here, and that is the misuse of Postal Votes. We have begun to witness certain Postal Vote irregularities happening in certain parts of this country within certain sections of the population. As a matter of urgency there needs to be a radical overhaul of the Postal Vote system in this country so that the obvious travesty of justice happening in America right now can never happen here. In the words of 'Uncle Joe' Stalin: 'It's not who votes that count. It's the people who count the votes.'

Well said Boris, and I agree with you whilst not being too happy about another lock down, for however long a duration. My real worry is who is actually going to enforce this? I cannot see 'certain sections' of the population taking any notice at all. If anyone answers 'The Police will enforce the lockdown', please excuse my cynical laughter. After what has happened over the 'Burn Loot and Murder' marches in London during the summer, along with various other protest marches (except, of course, if you are a Veteran and have fought for this country) then Police have been an absolute shambles. They have lost any credibility they may have had amongst the very people who at one time would have been their strongest supporters. And I speak as someone who's brother spent thirty years in the Police Force when the Police actually did their job! Today they are a total and utter disgrace, and a shadow of their former selves. This, as always, starts at the top, and how Cressida Dick is still in her position is one of the world's great mysteries. I will, as I did before, obey the lock down rules. I do not think, however, that they will be observed by the aforementioned 'certain sections' and what is even more outrageous is that the Police will, yet again, stand by and do nothing. They need to take a leaf out of the Italian or Russian Police. They stand for no nonsense. It's probably too late for our Police. They have shown themselves, by their pathetic actions to be weak and ineffective. I hope the lock down succeeds, but I have very deep reservations as to if it actually will work.

Trump has his faults, plenty of them, but for me it was an easy decision. If I could, I would vote for Donald Trump with no hesitation whatsoever. I simply cannot believe that the majority of American people can support a candidate (Biden) who doesn't appear to know that he is running for President. He (Biden) is obviously suffering from the onset of Dementia. Some of what he has uttered would embarrass a teenager! His 'habits' around children, especially young girls, is worrying. Now he is caught up in one of the biggest scandals to hit American politics for many years. His son and he, along with others, have conspired with Russia and China and made millions for themselves. If that were to happen here, he would be drummed out of office immediately. If he is somehow elected, and that could be 'rigged', then he won't last a year and will be 'Retired on health grounds'. Go Donald!!!!

http://www.conservativehome.com/ : Dolly Theis: What can Conservative history teach us about tackling obesity?

A very well written and argued article. Being interested in the supply chain of food as a former farmer, and for a time a Member of The Board of a large agricultural supply company, this is something close to my heart. As a child, I grew up under the tail end of rationing. Us children never went hungry, however, even if the food was fairly basic compared to today. And in some part thereby lies the problem. There is far too much dependence today on 'fast food' - a concept that did not exist when I was young, or even in my teenage years. 'Fish 'n Chips' was what passed for 'fast food' back then, and that was a very occasional treat. Couple the fact of easily available and cheap fast food with the lack of exercise many young people take, and you have a ticking time bomb. Again, when young, mine and the next generation made our own entertainment which largely comprised of someone producing a football from somewhere, teams were picked, jackets were laid down as goals, and we played until worn out! In summer it was cricket. In the main, we were fit. It seems that since the late1980's the advent of the computer, iphones, lap tops, and so on has led to a largely sedentary lifestyle for many young people. True, there are now Gym's which never existed when I was young, and yes, many people use them, but not enough young people, it seems. This issue also leads back to schools, many of which now no longer seem to have a robust physical exercise regime. As well as a policy regarding food and nutrition, there has to be coupled with it a serious look at the physical education side of school's curriculum. If that were to be done in tandem with a serious look at nutrition, I believe that it could achieve some very good results. Looked at in isolation, it is my belief that it will ultimately fail in what it is trying, quite correctly, to achieve.

As someone who is well past the sell by date for even thinking of applying, I can afford a little wry smile. If, perchance, I were of an age to apply, I reckon on having read the above, I would crumple up my application and throw it in the bin and seek more lucrative and profitable employment elsewhere. As usual, I suppose we will have the 'eager beavers' who will plough through the jargon and believe it to be worthwhile. Good luck to them. As long as we don't ever go back to a 'Call me Dave' Cameron list that was biased towards women of questionable loyalty and integrity, (and I was unlucky enough to have witnessed the appalling antics of one first hand) then I will, as they say, await developments. I will add this, though. We do need more 'ordinary' working people. I have nothing against those who are lucky enough to be well of financially, and we do need them in the Parliamentary Party, but we must appeal more to the 'new' Conservative voters in the North of the country if we are to thrive in the future - and I speak as someone who lives in the South of the country.
