I maintain that the only time was from 1976 to 1980. I don't have any adoration of Carter, so I don't know why you're so puzzled. The difference is that they have been empowered over there because your country thought it would be better to have them in power than to let them have democracy. They had a moderate democracy in Iran and the US orchestrated a coup to put a dictator in power. Saudi Arabia was handed over to a single family in the 1940s and the US preferred that over an Arab democracy. The mosque was the only political space allowed in those countries for half a century, so when the dictators went out, the religious nuts filled the vacuum. Left alone, they'll find their level like any other nation in history. In the end all people, with the exception of the apocalyptic religious nuts, want peace and freedom for themselves and their families. The best antidote to religious extremism is prosperity, but they'll never have prosperity so long as they have dictators robbing them blind. The longer you try to hold the lid down on the desire for democracy, the bigger the blowback will be. And your wrong about my words being fueled by hate. If a judge admonishes a criminal for his behavior, it's not because he hates him. It is because he wants to see him better himself. I can't control how you perceive my words. North Korea invaded your country? There was no North Korea then. There was just one Korea that was in the middle of a civil war. Your country stepped in because they couldn't stand to see all those armament profits lost after the end of WW2. You were occupying Central America all throughout Eisenhower's administration. Read up on the atrocities committed by the US Marines during that period. There are some lovely photos of stacks of enemy heads with grinning boys standing over them. Kennedy sent the troops into Vietnam in the first place (also occupied Central America and invaded Cuba). You have not been at peace since the 1920s, yet your country has never been actually threatened by anyone. And as I already pointed out with actual facts, there were long stretches where the UK and France were not involved in armed conflict. The only time the US has not been involved in armed conflict since the 1920s was during the Carter administration. So the UK and France do not fit my description "better". No nation on earth has been at war continuously like yours since the end of WW2. The world grew up. You didn't. It will be your downfall if you don't wake up and realize it.

The Soviets freed just as many countries from the Germans. That wasn't "bringing them freedom". They just happened to be on the road to Berlin. If anything, you can take credit for bringing freedom to Japan since you removed them from under the thumb of their monarch. But like I've said so many times before, I gave you credit for WW2 because you didn't ask for it. All of your conflicts since have been of your own choosing and none of them were to bring freedom to anyone. I don't hate you any more than I hate the Romans or the British or any of the other empires that have brought death and destruction with them. The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference and that pretty much sums up my opinion on your empire. Just because I'm not as enamored with your mythology as you are doesn't mean I hate you. It just means I'm not buying your BS. There are a lot of people out there who do indeed hate you. However, unlike the BS that your government sold you when they marched you off to your latest wars, they don't "hate you for your freedom".
