Barnier threatened to make GB to NI food trade illegal under No Deal. What were we meant to do?

You know there is a wide range of options between no state aid and nationalising everything. for example bailing out a bankrupt satellite company. Doesn't mean we are going to buy up every company that works in the space industry.

Do you understand anything about the zero-carbon economy? It will be worth more than fossil fuels and drive our next phase of development. If you don't believe me why don't you ask Germany why they are backing it so much. Time to wake up to the future.

Gauke is still failing to understand the electorate and the party he once represented.

Most Conservatives already accept that some sort of state-aid will be required from time to time. The question is to what degree and scope. Where as the left want to nationalise first ask questions never.

One-nation Conservatism means changing with the times. When the facts change I change my mind, what do you do. Gauke has failed to keep up and is now being left behind in his views. Thacherism was needed back then but it isn't needed now.

Fishing is now of so little importance to the UK because of the EU's fishing policies. You should look up what EU fishing trawlers are doing to our waters if you think we shouldn't be doing something about it then you clearly hate the environment.

We want to leave so we can go our own way, you can't then constrain us to policies we democratically voted to get rid of. One of the reasons we voted Leave was so we can now use state aid to rescue companies that have the potential to make a real difference to the UK. You may laugh at OneWeb now but we will be bringing highly skill jobs back to the UK. Why is that a bad thing? If we hadn't of stepped in a UK company would have been bought out by the French and our jobs gone there instead. Used to bolster the EU space programme instead.

We aren't going back to the EU now so it's about time people started to move on and start working with us and not against us.

That view would only hold merit if the opposite view was actually within today's realm. Gaukes views are yesterday's news. An irrelevance. Pushing a narrative we have moved on from. He's been resoundingly rejected for these specific views. If we listen to and debate anything that comes out of his mouth we will be going backwards as a party.

Gauke would be better placed in the Lib-Dems. Both irrelevant these days. Fighting yesterday's battles. How he hasn't noticed this or kept up is sad really.

It's sad that people would rather erase a difficult past than leave it where it is. We should use it to remember and educate people on why it was wrong and what we can do to make sure it doesn't happen again. There are monuments and memorials to people that those on the right don't like but some of us believe they should be used for my aforementioned reasoning. You can't just pretend these things never happened.

No, pedophilia is illegal in the UK. Owning and or trading slaves back then wasn't. Just like we wouldn't erect a statue of these people now.

What centre-left policies should we be looking forward to here then?

So the argument is we should accept lower standards than our own. Do you not realise that would put UK producers at a disadvantage and likely end up wiping them out instead. We should be pushing for higher standards. From every sector. That is how you advance as a civilisation. By pursuing better, in perpetuity.
