"Learn your history."? That is a curious comment from someone who is trying to hide the truth. This is the truth: In the South in 1961 THERE were NO Republicans none zero not one. Everyone including the thugs you are trying to lie for was a DEMOCRAT. The Kennedys? Do you mean the guys who ordered Hoover to wire tap Martin Luther King and bug his hotel rooms? Just asking? The KKK was founded in 1868 by Nathan Bedford Forrest as the terrorist arm of the DEMOCRAT Party. If you can't understand the hatred White Democrats in the South had for Blacks in the 1960s and earlier you probably actually believe Johnson passed the Civil Rights laws over the objections of Republicans instead of the other way around. Since its founding the DEMOCRAT Party has ALWAYS been the home of racial hatred toward Black Americans. It was the DEMOCRATS who tried to defeat Lincoln to keep Blacks as slaves. It was the Democrats that voted AGAINST the 14th 15th and 16th Amendments.
